Are intimating that with those parts installed the SHO wouldn't be a reliable daily?

Reliable is relative. With all the mods in the future will the car still be a reliable daily? I definitely take my maintenance completely serious, so I would say yes. With a solid tune 400 hp/450 tq to the tire I see no problems.

However, if the numbers stay being reported are correct my SHO with full bolt ons (including the IC) should put over 450 hp and probably 530 + tq to the tire. I am being conservative with those. I bet I see more and will have to dial the car back. With those numbers that would be 540 hp and 636 tq at the flywheel if you add the 20% drivetrain loss.

I know the SHO 3.5 motors get interesting around 500 wheel hp. At those levels usually the drivetrain starts having issues. I may have a new trans, however our trans have failed on stock power levels. The PTU is also weak link. I have done what I can, but it will always be a ticking time bomb for what I want with the car, because I have zero problem really leaning on it.

I want my SHO at any time of the year to put 450 hp to the tire, and run in the 11's full weight. I want to be able sit at a light with my AC seats on, listening to Sean Hannity, and not have to think twice about yanking the person next to me street light to street light. A real street sleeper.

Well I think it’s more you don’t want to daily the “investment” car or the “show” car really. At least that would be my view. That’s why I daily my F 150 and garage the SHO when possible

Exactly. I actually have more fun driving the ST. I love a turbo manual car.

The SHO is completely predictable and I know exactly what it's got. I put 17,000 miles on it last year. I cruise it on the weekends now. Don't get me wrong, I love my SHO, however it's daily driver life is over now. It now will be my "investment, track, street brawler, garage queen".

Haven't been able to throw the car on the dyno yet. I got cancelled last minute. Probably just going to try and get the IC into the car this weekend. Then go do some logs for Brad and then get some dyno time.

You're not messing around! lol

Edit: Since you're doing the power mods in phases, I also look forward to how downpipes play out. Been having trouble finding a solid before and after dyno of someone tuned. I know they are worth it, but how worth it...

I think BiGMaC over on EBPF had done the comparo during the development of the PPE downpipes, not sure if he was tuned or not at the time. Both catted and catless versions were tested.

I am probably going to go with the PPE catless DP's. Going to keep all of my stock pieces however. I have a feeling, I will step out of my 13 and into an 17 or 18 in a couple of years.

It should be interesting. I will see what I can do with the dyno tomorrow. I want it to crack 400 before the IC goes in.

If we are thinking of the same guy, he was stock. He was supposed to redo it after getting tuned, but never did (and I don't think ever got tuned).

I may end up going with LMS catted dp's as they are cheaper, but I know some dislike them for emissions since they don't pass. I don't have emissions, so we'll see. Good call on keeping the stock parts for later!

Well sorry guys, she just wouldn't crack 400 awhp tune only. The air is crap here in Phoenix. So these are the numbers I am using a my baseline pre intercooler install. 388/463. Going to Ford right now to get a new T-Stat, and coolant. Then I will get home and start taking her apart.

The new GH IC is in and it is WORTH EVERY DAMN PENNY! It dropped my IAT2's in the same weather 45 to 50 degrees. If you are on the fence, jump off and get on the GH IC intercooler train. Brad and I working on a tune for it, and hopefully I can get it back on the dyno later this week.

Couple of things. The GH Intercooler tabs were bigger then the slots on the radiator. Also remove your oil dip stick and put a piece of tape over the hole. I broke mine off, and now I am going to have to extract it. If you have a PP, you will have to remove the PTU coolant hose from the radiator, along with dropping the trans cooler off the brackets as well. Also I would go to Ford and buy at least 10 of the push tabs because you are going to destroy them all.

Brad and I have been working on a HG IC E30 tune for my car. He actually had to pull the some out of the car because the damn GH IC is too efficient lol. Here are a couple of pics from my drive this morning.

34 degrees ambient air temps this morning.

Realtime at 75 mph on my LiveWire.....

GH IC 34 ambient at 75 mph

I just rolled into the throttle at 75 while staying in Drive. It dropped 6 degrees, and I was north of 100 mph.

GH IC 34 ambeint full send in in drive

These temps are at the manifold. With the stock IC I never saw temps under 100 degrees at any time.

That's awesome! Sounds like a tune adjustment without a doubt is required. When is the next dyno run? And on a side note, did you defend your title?

Yeah, Brad pulled back on her. He corrected for IC volume and added some fuel correction. I will try to schedule another dyno session this week.

I got beat up in Redding at World's Strongest Logger. Ended up 11th, but still left with my World Record in the Natural Stone press intact. I had a good recovery week, and ended up winning Arizona's Strongest Man for the second year in a row. So yes, and thanks for asking.

Ordered new O2 sensors from Rock Auto that should be here today. I have a scheduled dyno session at BMR for Friday at 9 am. I am going to try to get the O2's in tonight, and get some logs to Brad for some final adjustments.

I also updated the goals on the first page.

New Bolt On Goals

Bolt On Track Goal #1: I want to run in the 11's at full weight with a quarter tank of fuel at all times. That means zero weight reduction! My car has already cut a 1.77 sixty foot tune only! That should get better with the H&R springs and bolt on's in the future.

Bolt On Power Goal #2: I want to crack 440 awhp and 530 awtq with my AJPTurbo E30 tune, GH Intercooler, and PPE Catless DP's. Further down the road I will install the Upgraded HPFP.
