Hi all. I'm on v11 and so far I don't believe I have any issues although with crappy weather outside its hard to really find the opportunities to get on it consistently. I'm thinking of getting the LMS pump just for insurance but given its price I'm not sure if its a value add. My understanding is that the engine won't self destruct on the v11 if it runs out of fuel i.e. the tune pulls the power back to prevent damage.

If this is true, do you think the pump is worth the money even if it periodically stalls out going from 2 to 3 or hitting the limiter?

Also, mine is a 2018 so a new pump. Could some of the issues with the v11 be from older pumps no longer functioning a their peak performance?

Thanks.

I've been wrestling with that question for the last six months. Sixteen hundred plus is a lot of money for piece of mind. I ended up going with the hundred fifty AJP Turbo insurance plan, tho I am still tempted to get the pump so my car can go faster.

Whatever did we do before the HPFPs became available? Process is more important than parts. If you can afford it, and you are leaning towards having it, go for it. Otherwise, use better fuel than needed, use HEET in wintertime, and err on the side of being conservative. Remember, in weather below say 40F, it takes a while for the transmission to warm up. The engine could take 5 minutes of driving, the transmission 20 or more!

It is about process first, parts later. Use the appropriate strategy, and put fear in its' place.

Was this because of an issue with the tune or did you just want to increase performance?

Increase performance. With my 2010 I had meth to offset the lack of available fuel. The HPFP was always in the cards for me personally.

I agree 100% with SHOdded. It’s is completely not needed for good performance. I wanted to take it further without needing meth. A true set and forget performance configuration beyond what the stock pump could handle.

I believe certain vendors have purposely made it out that you need one for a tune which is not true. Remember folks... the EB SHO record has been achieved without the HPFP. And hasn’t been beat yet by someone with the HPFP.

Just food for thought...

Great points. Thanks all. I'm really just looking for a good plug and play upgrade to the stock daily and so far the v11 seems to be providing that. If it starts falling flat on a regular basis when the weather hits then I suppose the pump is next .

I'm vested in LMS at this point having just got going with this 18 so not in a rush to change tuners although that would still be cheaper than the pump. As long as I don't need it to protect the motor on the v11 then might as well wait.
