So I just picked up the SP-542's because I got them on sale at a really good price that I couldn't pass up. But now I'm wondering if I should put them in or not since my car is completely stock (other than a catback system).

Mine is a 2016 SHO w/ Performance Package. I live in the midwest where it goes through every type of weather (if that is even a factor) and would love everyone's thoughts on yay or nay? Will I get better performance, or would I be better off just putting in new stock plugs?

Thanks in advance.

Only reason to go a step colder is cause you are tuned. Stick with stock otherwise.

Thank, guys. That's pretty much what I was expecting to hear. I think I will be holding onto them for now and replacing my Borla cat-back with a Stainless Works system (including downpipes) first. Then I will focus on the engine side of things with Unleashed Tuning for the spark plugs to work with.

Get a 3 bar Map too. Worth it with a tune.

I'm tuned and still use the stock plugs - even with tune no real need to use colder plugs. And look into Livernois for the tune! Unless a tenth of a second really matters and you want to spend your time data-logging....

So I take it the motorcraft iridiums that are 1 heat range colder than stock plugs?

SP-542 is one step colder than SP-534 which is stock for the 2013+
