I think I lost my position in this thread. So the trans case popped too? Or did they take it apart to verify no damage was done.

Might get the SHO back at truly full strength!!!
Trans case cracked :( But looking forward to the NEW parts. At least I'll feel good for another 40,ooo miles :burnout:

So when you go to pick her look real good on the ground and around the drive train for leakage. Ask to verify trans fluid level too. If she's like mine, the fill is under the air intake. Verify break in requirements to see how hard you can push her too. Take her for a good test drive, and look for leaks again. This dealer sounds like one of the few good ones, so be sure to give them kudos. Good luck with her.
Oh and if you can pics of the damage and service sheet for parts and prices. It never hurts to know lol.

Good info. I'll definitely be checking fluid levels and looking for leaks. She was bone dry before the boom so I expect the same. I did let them know I want pics of the damage so all parts are being held.

So Ford roadside assistance finally, after 4 different towing companies got my car picked up they took it to a Lincoln dealer. Even though they passed a Ford dealer on the way. Now they have to have my car towed from Lincoln to Ford. I can't imagine if this had happened to my wife out alone with our daughters. The service is deplorable and Fords lack of compassion makes it worse.
EXACT reason why this is my last Ford

Picked up my car today around 2p after a 18 hour drive. Now I get to drive her home and I'll be nervous all the way. Dealership was great getting this resolved, especially being from out of state. Here are a couple pics of my PTU. I load up some of the paperwork pics also when I get home. Looks like it was just under $2000.00 warranty repair.

Oh and BTW, it looks like either the towing company or one of the Ford techs lifted my LMS Tuner and cable. I had it hidden in the spare tire well and it is now gone. Need to figure out how to get a replacement, I'm not spending another $600.00

Yikes! I’d say count your blessings. From what someone told me, a deep scan could have been run on CPU and shown code relating to tuner. Of course, it would have to be proven though. I recently purchased 2nd hand tuner from someone on this forum, so keep any eye out...

Fingers crossed the repair holds, Choppa, and thanks for posting the pics for the rest of us to see. Mindblowing to be sure what happened.

These is a serial number on the tuner. I hope Livernois catches that if someone tries to get a tune for it.

That's freakin bad. Shame we won't know what caused it for sure. Lots of moving parts in the PTU and high temps. Glad it was all resolved and the price doesn't seem ridiculously high. Sucks about the Tuner, LMS should be able to find it if somebody attempts to reprogram it. Be sure to report it to them. Good luck.

Maybe just forgot to put it back? I would like to believe in the better part of human nature, still wouldn't know how to ask around :(

Car has already been fixed. Besides, you can always tell them it was for a different car etc...

I would call...

I had the same thing happen to an iPod back in the day... someone at the dealer lifted it out of the console.. no one admitted fault.

Yeah, it was kind of hard keeping my cool about it at the dealership, couldn't really say where is my tuner and thanks for the warranty repair :nono:
