Hello all. I’ve been lurking here for years but am finally looking at an SHO and wanted to see what to aim for in negotiations. It’s a certified pre owned 2017 401a with nav, driver assist, and moonroof with about 10k miles. Private party is about 30k on it so I thought that might be a good place to start. Any thoughts? I’ve looked at a few new ones and seen the huge discounts you can get on them, so just don’t want to pay too much for a used one.

$30000 is good the car is brand new still. All those discounts come with great credit score only through ford credit if you got it get a new one. Might get for 35-37000$. The 2017 has a certified warranty that might run longer than the new car warranty. At least on the basic warranty items. Just my thoughts either way GET ONE ! Ha

Ok, I bought my 2015, 11/15 manufacture date in Feb. 2017 with 450 miles for 30k. All options except PP. MSRP ~48k. You can use that as an example. It was never sold but was sold as used because it was on the lot for >12 months. So it had 2y9m of b2b warranty remaining.

Credit score is no problem. I can afford a new one but if I can get this one for cheaper that would be great. I really hate to pay 35-37 with the resale value on these.

I’ve inquired about a couple. Had the same issue when I bought the wife’s Flex last year. I got a better deal on a brand new 17 at a high volume dealer than any leftovers I tried to buy. That was sure a sweet deal you got on your 15 though.

I had chance to by leftover ‘16 beginning of year for 30k which was brand new. Bought ‘16 with 15k (color that I wanted) for 27k.
You definitely should be able to get CPO for under 30k. Timing is everything though. You need to widen your search area, as did I. The only reason I can see dealers not lowering prices now is because sho will be made no more

Drove 170 miles and the car was decent enough—not owned by an enthusiast though because it had scratches all over the clearcoat and the piano black trim. A lot of it could have been buffed out, but some would stay and bug me. I started at 29 and went to 30 but they would only budge $400 off their asking so I walked. I found another one in Detroit. It’s an Ingot Silver 16 with 15k miles, 401A, nav, sunroof, and driver assistance pkg. It’s a Lexus dealer and they’ve been sitting on it for 6 months so they were motivated. $24,700 out the door and I pay my own taxes once I get it home. Picking it up tomorrow. They sent really good pictures and the salesman was an enthusiast so I feel pretty good about condition. I’m picking it up tomorrow afternoon. Wish me luck.

No. This was a Lexus dealer, so no way to make it cpo. The car is immaculate. I’m so glad the other dealer was unreasonable because this car is as close to perfect as I’ve ever seen. I’ve been on the road since 5 am yesterday so I can’t stay awake long enough to post pictures but I’ll throw a few up tomorrow. Really pumped about this car. I’ve always liked the SHO but had no idea what a fabulous car they were until now.

Yeah. They had been sitting on it since February with no interest. The original ad I found showed 5 markdowns with the latest Thursday. They were polite but I could tell I was insignificant with my little 24k purchase. They just wanted it gone. I beat out another guy by just hours who was coming to buy it but I had already left a deposit sight unseen conditional on it being what they said it was. Rented a car and headed on a 400 mile trip to Detroit on about 8 hours notice. Lol. I’ll throw a couple undercarriage pics to show how clean it is.

I've been on the hunt for a good SHO but. Haven't found anything that would be considered a good deal. A lead Vegas Ford dealer has two 2016 SHOs for sale, one with 0 miles and the other with 11. They wouldn't budge much of of MSRP. I just laughed and hung up the phone on them. Now they email me once or twice a week asking if I'm still interested. Sure, if they drop it down to $34k starting point, I'll talk. I'm wanting to keep the price to around $25k but will go a bit higher for a really good buy.

Forgot to add, a private seller in Seattle has a black 2016 with less than 3k miles on it for sale. Not crazy about black, nor the all leather seats. He was asking $35k firm and I laughed. He got smart after a couple weeks and dropped it to $30k. Still too high though.

Not planning on doing anything right now. Don’t want to risk the warranty. I’m going to use the car on cross country trips, so I’m gonna buy an ESP soon from Ziegler or flood.
It’s not that they were nasty. The salesperson was great actually. It’s mainly the comments the finance person made. It was obvious they’re no fan of Fords. Lol.

Whoever traded this for Lexus didn't just take a batch they took a full day spa massage.
One employee can determine a good dealer and bad dealer. The local Ford dealer that sold me the sho was the best. Six weeks ago we went to the only local Chevy dealer for a new C7. That sales manager treated us like trailer trash so we walked. Little did he know that we had cash with us. Ended up buying the car from an online dealer. Achieved my satisfaction by taking the car to that local Chevy dealer twice to rub his face in it.
I made several price inquiries on a new SHO. One sales woman in Tennessee accused me of dodging her phone calls as soon as I had a chance to call her back. I couldn’t believe the nerve. I told her she could shove the car.
I like to do my car buying online and negotiate by email. It limits the game playing when it’s all in writing. I at least would like price quotes online when I ask for them. When we bought my wife’s Flex last year only one dealer was willing to price by email, and we bought the car from them. Not one of the seven dealers I solicited prices from on a new SHO actually sent me a price—not one. I was using their internet price request links too. Lol. All it ever did was trigger constant phone calls.
