I'm here in Michigan and the snow is beginning to fall. I'd like to put 18" Blizzaks on my 2015 SHO - Detroit Wheel and Tire says the 18" OEM Taurus Rim will not clear my calipers - they have some super bad black refurbished OEM 18"

Does anyone have first hand knowledge if this is this true?

Just dropped my 18 steels last night and haven't heard anything about not fitting. Pick new SHO tomorrow.

Aftermarket. I was thinking the same thing about caliper clearance and I did notice the steels protrude out further than any other steels I've had on my vehicles
.

18" rims will not clear the brake calipers UNLESS they are rated for the police interceptor. The SHO has a different caliper from the other model lines.

Thanks Greg, I've been wondering the same thing. I have a set of 18" wheels from a 2013 Mustang with Blizzaks mounted to them already. I was hoping to hear that it would fit and I could just put them on and adjust for the difference in revolution per mile compared to the 20" wheels on my 2016. Might as well sell the Mustang wheels and tires now I guess.

Stock 18" wheels fit my 2016 SHO with Performance Package.

These are the 18" alloy painted rims that came stock on a bunch of years. Pic below:

Interesting, thanks for the picture krewat - those are the wheels I can grab pretty cheap here - does the caliper come close to the inner wall of the wheel?

I wonder if the '15 and '16 have the same caliper?

I'd say there's maybe a 3/4" gap between the caliper and the rim. Wasn't even close. The "face" of the wheel might be a little closer than that, but I never had any weird noises or other contact, and I definitely beat on the car with these things on. The 2016 as far as I know, is the same all the way back to 2013.

The cop car tires I used handled very well, compared to the 20" Goodyear F1's. Yeah, there was sidewall squirm, but not nearly as much as I anticipated. And they wore very well too. https://www.tirerack.com/tires/tire...ewall=Blackwall&partnum=455VR8UGGW3&tab=Sizes

The goodyear place I had install them kept calling them "pursuit tires" - and they were $300 each from him because of some government constraint.

That is awesome information, thanks for sharing it krewat. I'll go snag that good deal and have the Blizzaks mounted by the end of the week! We're supposed to get 8 today and more later in the week.

Much appreciated!

Last question if you don't mind - what size tires are in the picture you shared?

245/55R18's, but I'm not sure how many tires come in that size. That's the Police Interceptor size. The stock tires on 18's I think were 235's.

Speedometer wise, I think the 245/55R18's are closer to the stock SHO 245/45R20's - the 235/85's will make your speedo show slightly high. The following are computed tire diameters for the three sizes:

28.68 - 245/45R20 - 60MPH
28.61 - 245/55R18 - 59.8MPH
28.17 - 235/55R18 - 58.9MPH

So with your speedo showing 60MPH now, the above MPH's are what it really is with the different tires sizes. NOTE: The 60MPH on the speedo now on stock tires is slightly off anyway, I think 1-2MPH high. So when it shows 60MPH, it's really like 58 anyway.
