New guy here!
I just purchased a 2010 after being a long time Honda guy. So far I love the car!
I do however have a question for you all. I was offered the 48 month powertrainCARE warranty for an additional $30 a month on top of my loan. The car has 74k miles, and was a certified pre-owned. I average roughly 5-6k miles a year. So I don't plan on putting on huge amounts of mileage. I do like to occasionally kick it down, but I won't be doing any kind of quarter mile racing, or probably even any mods.
So I'm wondering if I should say "yay or nay" to the protection. What has been everyone else's experience with it?

Well I would really like to find a set of chrome wheels locally cheap. And maybe a tuner/3bar. But That's probably unlikely.

Extended warranties experiences are usually directly related to the dealership. Some are willing to go out of their way to help, some are very strict with modifications. It's best to "feel out" the service dept manager and their policies.
74k is still relatively low and it was CPO, but one incident/warranty claim can pay for itself.

Honestly, the 2010s were the first run of a new car... there are ALOT of TSBs!! If the warranty will cover the TSBs and future failures, I would do it in a heart beat. Especially if I was not planning on modding it.

Well that's off the table now. Reason being, I had to fiance through the dealership because my credit union believed it should be well under the suggested NADA value. Which, in this area doesn't happen on SHO's. The only way I could get it down to close of that value was to fiance through Ally bank through the dealership.
So after one payment I'll be refinancing with the credit union. So if I added the warranty, that would have been another $4k on top of the price, thus the credit union would never touch it.

Also, I only put roughly 5k miles a year on my daily driver (I have a motorcycle, a truck, and a classic car.) So I'll probably have the car 4 years, therefore will only be in the mid 90,000's when I get something else. So I'm spinning it in my mind to not worry, haha.

Online ford warranties are very costeffective. You can always ask the dealership to pricematch and addon to your financing.

I'm unable to add that to my loan, because the credit union says it'll make me upside-down on the loan.
