Since joining the SHO Forum earlier this year, I have been very impressed with the depth of knowledge the members have and are willing to share it. It was after reading various posts that I changed the RDF, flushed and refilled the radiator/ cooling system, drained and replaced the brake fluid and installed new spark plugs at 86,000 miles. I'm outsourcing to my Ford dealer and changing out the PTU fluid tomorrow. I had H&R lowering springs installed last summer. Currently I am not in the position to do any MODs. I am running 93 octane fuel. Does anyone have any suggestions on what else I might do to improve the overall performance of my 2011 PP?

Is a dropin K&N filter feasible? Most of the non-mod mods now would be maintenance related, like using the best oil & filter, best gasoline, etc. Clean the MAP sensors regularly. There are a couple of track related things you can do for those occasions like removing the weatherstrip at the firewall/windshield cowling, playing with tire pressures, etc. Make the car slipperier by keeping it washed/waxed regularly :)

Maybe if you want to take on a project to extend the intake snorkel down to the front bumper area, that might be something to think about.

Divert your attention to the looks/lighting mods maybe? Blacking out chrome, installing LEDs instead of incandescents, low-budget type changes?

Do you have a procedure for cleaning the MAP sensor?

Pull out the MAP sensor, spray the electrodes liberally with cleaner, and allow to airdry prior to reinstalling. Well ventilated area only please, the fumes, while not noxious, can be irritating.

I dont think it needs it, but definitely have the engine off from before the time you disconnect the sensor till after you reconnect it. The PCM should adapt as you drive the car.

If you still want the PCM to do a full relearn, go ahead and disconnect the neg battery cable for at least 30 minutes.

There are 2 MAP sensors, one attached to the air intake, and one on top of the intake manifold. The air intake one is already a 3bar stock, the intake manifold one is a 2bar stock.

Thank you kindly! I like to think I am in some small measure able to pay it forward, having learned (and still learning) from the many who have and continue to contribute to the community :thumb:

Keep us in the loop, hope the PTU fluid exchange goes well!

The Ford dealer called me and said that after inspection, they found the PTU was leaking and he didn't think changing the fluid was worth while. They felt it was a sign there might be some internal issue with the PTU. They checked with Ford and it would be covered under the CPO 7 year/100,000 mile extended power train warranty. I told them to order it and scheduled to take in next week. Maybe there is a lot of validity to changing out the fluid into the PTU on a regular basis. The thought in the back of my head was that it might be easier for them to claim warranty because it was more difficult to suck the fluid out. I wonder if anyone else has had to replace the PTU and at what mileage.

Where are the map sensors? How do I clean them? (Duster?)

Could this possibly help in resetting my media drive? It says "Reading Hard Drive" and I'm unable to put a cd in, usb, or access my phone-bluetooth.

I had to replace the PDU at 46,000 miles, only 3 days after picking up the car from the dealer. Make sure they re-program your transmission, mine hit the gears very hard until I took it to the Lincoln dealer where they flashed it for me .

FordParts.com shows the location of the MAP sensors (see attached PDFs). CX2228/AA5Z-9F479-A is a 2 bar MAP, CX2231/AA5Z-9F479-B is a 3 bar MAP.

New PDU here at 25k. Took it to the dealer and told them there was a propane smell in the cabin after a long drive and random gear noises under hard acceleration. Replaced PDU with no questions asked. I had to get my tunes updated because they changes strat code and S/W version to new ones. BTW, mine is a 2015 nonPP.
