I was happy to see this poll. I bought my car Saturday, and was shocked to see that it is the first SVT/Ford Hipo that I have owned that was not premium fuel only. I have decided though after reading up I was going to run 91+.

Some serious cars in that list You will be happy to know that the SHO lineup has always been a "premium-free" zone, though higher octanes have been recommended for more performance.

I have been running mostly 87. Every 4th or 5th tank I may get 93. I have a stock 2015 with ~11000 miles. During the week my commute is all back roads thru towns, no highway. Seemed silly to buy 93 (usually at least 50 cents more per gallon) when I am going no more than 30 - 40 mph and idling at lights, etc. If carbon build up on the valves is a problem any idea how long before I may see it?

I was running 87 for the most part here in the DFW area I wasn't seeing a major difference between 87 and 93 for economy and range especially in city traffic. Last two tanks however were 93 in preparation for the LMS 93 tune. A quick road trip got me up to over 20 MPG highway with 93. The only major difference between 87 and 93 was the .40/ gallon price difference in the 93. I did also experiment with some 99 and 91. I will be going to 93 and if I can find a ethanol free station I will consider that a bonus.

I have been reading a lot on "Top Tier" gas lately and seems like a decent move. Yes I am sure there are marketing aspects of it but seems to have technical benefits to help keep injectors clean and reduce carbon buildup.

I run Top Tier 93 only as well. That association requires members to use minimum detergents, etc., so better for modern cars IMO. 93 because my LMS tune is 93... but even if I didn't, I wouldn't put in the bare bones if I can make more power and keep the car healthier for a measly 40 cents more per gallon. The manual even says (paraphrasing), "go ahead and use 87, it'll be OK, not quite as much power, but still OK... oh, and if your car knocks and pings a little bit, that's expected, don't worry about it unless it's excessive." Should just be a warning label - don't run 87 unless you want your ride to run like poo. Anyhow, just my 40 cents worth but our cars are worth more than the savings between 87 and 93.

I've been running 2 gallons of 110 octane to a full tank of 93. Car runs great on the mix.

93 Top Tier & an occasional blend of VP Racing Fuels MS109 for Daily / Street use.

Track days sees exclusive use of MS109 only.

Running all the time, regardless of fuel used, is VP Racing Fuels M1 Methanol.

Never diluted. Pure 100%.

I actually get it from a holiday gas station 6 blocks from my house. 7.99 a gallon though

Are you sure it's unleaded? The only holiday 110 by me is leaded.
