What should I do with my craptacular sunroof cover

Hey all,

My 92's sunroof cover looks like crap (sliding interior cover). Most of the "felt?" Covering was off so I scraped almost all of it off. Now it's black plastic with a little bit of felt left. So, how do I:

1. Get the rest of the felt off. Most of it peeled off but the rest is still glued on.
2. What do I do with it? My interior is nice, I'd like the cover to be nice as well.
3. How do I get it back in (it was out when I got the car.

I've used hot water to get most of the felt off. The stuff that was still glued on, I tried to scrape it off the best I could. Ron Porter mentioned there is a place that will recover the shade with the felt to look original. Not sure how much it cost, but it was done on a car that was being restored.

ok, Ill look into it a little more. I would think refelting would be $$ due to all the vents,

Because of the hassle involved and because I don't really look up that much when I'm driving, I just didn't want to see that crappy look...I just scraped and sanded and painted flat black. I was going to do satin or semi gloss, but it didn't look as good as just flat. So yeah..



you have to take off the sunroof glass with it in "pop up" position, three screws on each side after you unscrew the halo..three screws across the front

ok, at least you don't have to remove the headliner. Looks good black though, I may do that.

Yeah, at least, ...
I found the window/glass to be a little hinckey about being in just the right place when you put it back together, like don't move the mechanism at all after you've removed the glass and not until the glass is back where it was before you took it off. If everything isn't seated just as it was, the window doesn't want to retract...very close tolerances I think

Ya, Ive had it out b4 to install a new seal. Did that, frigin thing still leaks.

You have to take off the sunroof glass with it in "pop up" position, three screws on each side after you unscrew the halo..three screws across the front

Took mine out (a '92), scraped it clean (took a while), painted the down side flat black, and the up side light gray (to reduce heat).
