So the time has finally come for me to ditch my speed6 and get a new car. My favorite car to date has been my 89 sho. Recently I speed by the food dealer and just about wet my pants on seeing the 2013 sho. Before I had been very disappointed that it does not come in a manual, but quickly realized that this is one car I would make an exception for. Long story short, I am now shipping for a brand used 2013 with a performance package and option package 402, my question is that since dealers do not know nearly enough about this car, is there any way to tell from the vin number whether the car comes with said packages?

I don't know about the VIN, but if it has summer tires (Goodyear), no spare and Alcantara suede wrapped steering wheel (each one is only available with the performance package), then it has the package.

Copy and paste this link in the browser bar, then add the VIN to the very end. You will get a PDF of the original window sticker. Works for all fords model years 2007 and later.

Might help if I actually add the link...

As already stated, just look for pics of the tires and the steering wheel. If tires are Goodyear Eagle F1's, then it most likely has the PP. Non PP cars have Michelin all season tires. The steering wheel is the easiest giveaway, but only works for 2013s.

Remember the PP's performance tires will be horrible and dangerous in snow.

Wheels are option on the SHO non pp, the steering wheel is only available on SHO with Perf Pack, also look for trans cooler visible from the front lower part of bumper.

Or the VIN thing works.....

If you are looking at new 2013, why not just go to Ford's website and do a dealer search. I did this with EB Flex a few months ago, and it showed me all that were available within like 500 mi. I assume you can do that with SHO. Then you just pop up the window sticker and look for the performance package info. If a dealer salesman can't at least do that for you... RUN LIKE ****!!!!!

On dealer's lot, the window sticker should show options. I suppose there are some used 2013's, but not many. Ford rep cars????

@Leadfoot1 Is it only the steering wheel thats suede wrapped? Or are the seats also suede on only pp cars?

@FracaSHO Thanks I think that's the best answer that I can how to get.

@PokerMunkee as long as it's silk summer when I get my sho is fine, I'll get winter tiires when it starts getting ablout November or so. Still gotta sell my Speed6 first.

@Mac98SHo I think the vin thing is the most viable option here, thanks.

@EcoBrick Bob you see I am trying to outsmart everyone here and get a used 2013 sho that won't work :)

This^

This link does the same thing as well, if that one stops working: http://services.forddirect.fordvehicles.com/inventory/WindowSticker.pdf?vin=

The 20" Goodyear tires are also a dead giveaway as other's have mentioned. They only come on PP. There's also no spare tire, but just a compressor/slime kit in the spare tire well. Lastly, the PP has larger brake rotors, the same as the Police pkg, which might be noticeable if it's parked next to a non-PP.

Here's a handy PDF pointing out all of the features of the PP: http://media.ford.com/images/10031/2013_TaurusSHO_Perf.pdf

Frankly with rebates, incentives etc you might be better off buying new. I got right around 9k off the sticker price on my new one in January.

Go on autotrader.com Search within a few hundred miles for used 2013 Taurus' and use SHO as keyword. Then run the VINs. I found at least one so far in your area. Prices are too high if you ask me.

I would generally tend to agree with you, but I need to spend no more than 35k (36.5) out the door, so I am kindof limited here. I don't think there is a delaer on earth that would give me that kind of price on a car with both package 402a and the pp

There is a 2013 SHO (Used) at Mike Molstad Ford in Charles City, IA - asking $34,500.
Have no idea on options.

There is a few of them around the country, there is one at Alexandria Lexus with the PP for just north of 35k with 7k miles in white (I was drooling, and already researching mods and exhaust options).

Go on autotrader.com Search within a few hundred miles for used 2013 Taurus' and use SHO as keyword. Then run the VINs. I found at least one so far in your area. Prices are too high if you ask me.

Doing just that, but on cars.com so far

Thx.

By the way, I was looking at this same one on cars.com. Something leads me to believe that this one should be skipped right over.

There is a video on youtube where a racecar driver takes ford employees around on the track in a red sho with pp.

This car is listed as a manufacturer registered fleet vehicle previously, and has on record a tire replacement at 16k miles after which it was sold in auction.

I truly believe that this is the exact car from that video.

That is NOT the car. All cars Ford uses for media and manager leases are preproduction and all eventually make their way to the crusher. They are not available for public sale. High performance tires like what come on the PP are not expect to last more than 20K being that they are softer for increased grip, so 16K is not abnormal.

Please show me where you found it said it was registered as fleet to a manufacturer. I ran an Autocheck report and it doesn't even list it as fleet and even if it did, leased vehicles pop as fleet sometimes if they were used as company cars.

Does say corporate fleet vehicle on the Carfax, could be any corporation tho. Easy to believe the 16k tire change with the perf GY summer tires.

Or just have your dealer order exactly what you want. :) Couldn't find a blue 2013 near me, so we had to do that. Talk about a frustrating wait....

Cannot order 2013s anymore...2014s only now.

I also believe the PP cars have the traction control button in the flip up area where the power connector is (also might have a sunshade up/down button next to it).
