OK well cooling system got a flush at least since I had to install a new radiator. Noticed sediment in bottom of coolant jug, probably from a fitting somewhere that is deteriorating. New radiator has been installed and a trans cooler too.

Temperatures are still the same as before. At least the trans never got above 150 cruising down the highway with ambient temps in the 60s.

I did notice what looked to be red RTV squeezing out of the thermostat housing. Looks like someone has been in there before, that can't be factory. Next step, thermostat?

Do both fans run at the same time?

If your highway speeds temp is now down to 150f with ambients of 60f then you are doing fine. There is nothing wrong with 200f for around town driving if you are having a bunch of starts and stops and such. It was the high temps when on the freeway that you had before that sounded to me like a problem. I think you are fixed.

Let me clairify....
Transmission temps have dropped drastically adding a cooler. It never went over 150. That was a nice change.

For coolant temps however....was still going up to 206F, then back down to 200F, then goes back up. It wanders in that range, even at highway speeds doing 65-75MPH on nearly flat roads with an ambient temp of 60-65F. Stomping the go pedal at highway speeds still produces a 15 degree drop in coolant temp, then it creeps back up.

Paul, when you ask if both fans run at the same time, do you mean when the AC system is activated or when the low speed cooling fan turns on?

possibly as simple as a loose water pump belt?

If only one radiator fan runs it will pull air in from the back of the radiator and just loops the air around. Both fans should always run when turned on.

I had a fan go bad and it would run kind of OK but puke out antifreeze after driving around town due to over pressure..
