Hi! - just bought a '95 SHO

Went out this weekend used car shopping for my son's first car, and I happened upon this baby. 148k miles, very original, some issues (chk engine and abs dash lights on), but overall a very clean well cared for relic.

Anyways, your forum has already helped me diagnose some of the issues this car has, and look forward to being a contributing member to the group.

One of the best, cheapest, and easiest mods for 94-95 SHO's is the 96' Brake Upgrade.

My first car (which I still have 11 years later) was the '95 SHO. It definitely contributed to being able to drive just about anyhting else well IMO.

It's an ATX model.

As for brakes, I was looking at the 3rd gen SHO rack and 96-up subframe/control arm/brake upgrade as a good plan down the road.

Right now it's all about getting the car to keep it's fluids and go stop shift and turn like a good stock '95 SHO should.

thanks platoribs - i just sucessfully fixed the hard start / dead tach / CEL / misfire problem with a cam position sensor, courtest of rock auto for 29 bucks

here was the culprit, and I can imagine like most all failures on cars after they leave the factory, it was mechanic repair error that possibly caused this one too.

turns out the sensor was only mounted with one mounting screw, the other one was bent and not holding anything at all. In addition, I was missing the lower PS reservoir bolt so i am going to guess all this could have happened during a timing belt or seal replacement fix in it's past, and now it finally was intermittantly losing it's ability to send a signal to the pcm.

happiness is a correct diagnosis and fix!

Now I might also have happened upon either a a) great donor car for the subframe / rack / wheel / tire / brake / seat upgrades for this '95, or I just founf me my very own SHO!

There is a beautiful '97 SHO for sale that has one bent valve according to the owner. He seemed to know a lot about the car because he did tell me the cams have been welded.

Now I am mechanically saavy and am not afraid of sizeable tasks as long as it involves cars on jack stands for less than 24 hrs. Am I looking at a great parts car for the '95 upgrades, or a weekend project to make me my own very nice, very clean '97 SHO?
