I just checked those out the other day. Pretty heavy tire, about 38lnd in the 245/45/20. That would add 7lbs to the already heavy 62lb wheel/tire combo.

It really surprises me how heavy most performance A/S tires are, compared to a comparable summer tire. You often find the difference to be 3-6 lbs. The weight difference grows with the larger wheel sizes. I've seen as much as 10-15lbs on 20"+ rims.

I know...it's pretty crazy! I think my new combination is going to be TSW Interlagos 20x8.5 (24lbs) and 245/40/20 Continental Extreme DW's (25lbs) versus the 62lbs of the current combinations. Save about 11-12lbs per wheel and keep the 20 inch wheels.

245/45-20 Hankook V12 Evo K110 :
After a few days :
29lbs per tire... I guess it's not too bad if compared to the 38lbs of the General
Not noisy on highway.
Surprisingly good in the rain
Handles very well
One of the cheapest out there.
Wear thread is 280, not too bad for summer perf tire.
Let's see at the track soon, just waiting for CAI first and perhaps some sun...lol What a crappy weather up here!!! It has been raining about 75% of days since 45 days... ; (

I already have snow tires, so I am strictly looking for a summer tire. However if you feel they are a good tire overall I might pick up a set. How are they wearing for you? Any traction issues off the line or going around turns? How do they handle in wet weather?
I've got 5K on them so far, just rotated them, they still look new and handle great in rain, they gone up $20 each since last November but are still a bargain.

Had to change the F-1s @21K
So far the FKs have performed very well on the rain (we do get a lot here in PR).
One thing though is they seem to be a little bit more noisy than the F1s.

My Conti DW's are holding up really well. They have at least 18K on them and should go 35-40K. Remember that I am running smaller diameter (772 RPM) tires vs the stock 718 RPM tires on EB Flex. Thus they run 8% faster, so should wear down that must faster also. I haven't rotated them in about 10K, and have all my strip time on them as well as many WOT test starts for tuning, so there is slightly less rubber on fronts. Anxiously awaiting Darreli's traction reports from the strip. Smaller tires do affect the speedo/odo which can be adjusted with SCT tuner, but my GAS mileage has not changed due to my 60 lb weight savings.

How are those hankooks holding up for you? $168 is pretty damn cheap for a 20" tire. I just want a tire that will get at least 25k and still have decent traction.

So far so good. I drove a bit more than 2K miles with them, tested them at the track, on the normal road, fast starts at stop lights, under the rain... Very pleased with them. I don't know how long they will last though... I would be happy to get 20K miles with them or at least two summers (here in Quebec, we are obliged to have winter tires between Dec-Mar)... I am concerned too that I will be able to drive them next year, but that the traction won't be as good when going at the track, which is one of the main reasons I went for summer tires instead of all-seasons. But I like the way they handle, they stick and also, I love their sporty look and their thread lines.
So bottom line, for 168$ it is a **** of a deal, probably longitivity will justify their cheap price... who knows? time will tell...
Cheers!

I've got about 4K now on my V12s. Track performance will show next month at VIR, and I don't have twisty roads to pre-test them, but they have been very good. They have AGAIN shown themselves to be excellent in the wet, and the ride is quite good, considering they are 215/50/17 on a 7.5" rim with my usual 35 psi. I know they won't corner as well as my former RS2s (which are now RS3s), but the white '89 is basically stock, so I will hope that they do well.

I just put these on today. I got all four mounted, balanced, with a replacement warranty for $760 (after $60 rebate) from Discount tire. So far they have good grip and are quiet. I just hope they get me at least 20k-25k. Without the warranty it would have been $670, but I have used it a few times in the past so I think it's worth it.

For those of you with the Hankook V12's. Any updates w/ mileage? I've got 32k on my F1's and yeah, their bald, and I'm interested in the V12's as well.

I bought them a few months ago and love them. However, my wheels were not well aligned (following installation of lower suspension) and it caused premature use on the inside of the tires... especially the front ones.
I only manage 9K miles and needed to replace those front tires. But, if it was not of that premature inside use, the rest of the tires would still be good for another 10K. I also did about 100 quarter mile runs with them and every day, I pushed the car from stop with WOT at least a dozen of times (yes, I enjoy my car a lot! lol).
So, I believe that 20K miles is to be expected at least.
The deal is hard to beat.
I bought a new set of four. I replaced the worn tires of the front for new ones and will continue to use the older tires in the back and next year will rotate the front to the back and install the new ones in the front.
I leave in Canada and it cost me around 800-850$ for the complete set of 4, shipping and custom charges included! As an American, they will cost you around 650$, unbeatable price.
Stop looking around and order them, you will be satisfied.

I think it's important with the all wheel drive to keep the same size tires front and rear. I wouldn't run worn ones together with new ones.

The Hankook look good price wise but the treadwear is too low. I would like to get more than 20k from a tire. I have found some Michelin's in the low $200's. I am in GA so ice and snow isn't too big of an issue here.

I think if they are paired and the worn ones are on the rear wheels, there is no problem. If ever there is a bit of spin to have, it will be in the front wheels. Do you have any arguments why AWD would require equally worn tires front and rear?
Thanks

The thread wear is at 280 I believe. That said, since here in Quebec, it is mandatory to have winter tires from December 15th until March 15th, I prefer to have a second set of performant summer tires instead of (not so performant) all-season tires... I spend already enough on modifying the car to make it performant, so the basic implies that the car has proper tires to handle the extra power. I remember at the track, with the all-season Michelin, it would spin until 40mph... now with the Hankook, it doesn't spin at all and only chirps a bit when shifting to second gear.
All-in, the appropriate tires depend on your use. For me, performance over lifetime...
Cheers!

IMO, for Summer tires, the 280 treadware was TOO HIGH.....

I now have exactly 10K miles on them (Hankook Evo V12). Hardly show any wear. This is with one track day (VIR) and mostly commuting.

Other than $200++ Pilot Sports, Michelins are ROCKS, and aren't worth a crap for any kind of performance.

For a good set of summer tires with great wet & dry performance, 20-25K miles is totally reasonble for mileage.

Also, the fact that your car isn't AWD should accelerate the wear compared to Gen4's... So if you are at 10K with very little signs of wear, it confirms that Hankook is the best bang for the buck out there.
