Nice runs.

Spend ur money on more runs at the strip. Practice is best. U could shave 4 or 5 tenths with just a dozen or so more runs of practice.

Y-pipe and a catback would help ur traps if ur looking to add a few mods.

At the Convention drags, I got my best time on the first run. It was 100F+, and I was going to come out at idle, but they started the tree when I staged. Stabbed the gas, launched at 3,500 or so. Spun and axle-hopped to a 15.88 at 89.

Since we were doing bracket eliminations, I stayed with coming out at idle with a bog, dialing 16.30s.

Car is bone stock, has 150K miles, and could probably do low 15s in decent weather, but I didn't want to drop an axle or tranny in the heat, plus being hundreds of miles from home.

Ron, you can tell everyone that you smoked my 257 WHP car at the strip!

I'm betting that 27k mile engine won't be much faster. I would have put the 400 bucks in to the current motor and done a full 60k.

I was gonna say that it won't be much (if any) faster. His current engine is blown up, so he needed another anyways. At which point I would have found a 3.2 for that price.

lol the only 3.2s i found around my area were ungodly for the price and the miles were not worth it by any means. $575 for a 137k engine. or... $400 for a 27k.
if its not faster then o well... i took the head off last night. Seems she was leaking a little bit so a blown headgasket could have also prevented a lot of power.

^ That was my best run ('95 3.2L MTX stock everything else 193K) almost exactly at last years convention. As Ron said the conditions were not ideal.
On my last run I wheel hopped for about 100 feet, my rearview mirror popped off, and my radio (aftermarket) shot out and smashed my knuckles while I was trying to shift into second. All that made it good for about a 20 sec run.

im hoping to make it to 15 flat with all the new clean engine stuff. not to mention a stage 1 clutch (wont give me hp but will make me grab hold quicker instead of having to ride the clutch or bogging down)

I replaced mine about three years ago with a South Bend stage 1. It has a great stock feel to it and grabs flawlessly everytime at high RPM's. If you were going to put a lot of power adder's on your SHO I would reccomend at least a stage 2. I plan on doing a high-flow y-pipe, under drive pulley's possibly, nothing too drastic and the stage 1 is more than capable for those kinds of upgrades.

I have a southbend stage 2 and it's a great clutch. I put a beating on my clutches and this one has been down the strip about 80 times. I have had the clutch not fully grab before severel times from putting too much heat into the clutch but after a cool down the clutch will grab again.
