I just happen to come across this forum at 5am in the morning when I was searching to see if any other SHO owners had some of the problems that I was having with the rear shade rattle. I have the Sony system and in the process of upgrading all the speakers. The wind screen has rattled since bringing the vehicle home from the dealership; The rattle is not nearly as bad when in the up position but still there. After replacing my rear deck subs with the same size aftermarket replacements yesterday it was so bad that I was going to remove the shade ALL TOGETHER later today. The vehicle is tinted so it's not used anyway. I see that not only is that a common problem but I have at least 3 other issues that are on the TSB list or issues raised in this forum. Having never owned a Ford until this vehicle I thought that it was common and a norm among Ford products. Although I may have just offended many of the true Ford Fans the reason that I say that is that I went into the dealership looking for their flagship and purchased this vehicle with every option off of the floor. If I am experiencing these problem from the show piece is it unfair to expect and assume that this is the best offered in quality, features, etc.. So if this vehicle is the flagship then anything else would not even be at this level? Where it bothers me is that my car has only been back to Ford for routine servicing and the peeling chrome light problem and I asked had there been any issues with the (brake grinding, etc) among other owners the answer was no. Despite the issues I have been generally been pleased with my car. I now look back and have had 5 complaints within the 7 months that I have owned the vehicle. I took the 20 min survey when Ford called me and voiced all the issues that I have had with my vehicle and to date there has not been any follow up or notification of similar issues or corrective action. When I purchased the car I said on more than one occasion that I really was impressed with the vehicle and although this is my first American/Ford car it was not going to be my last. At less than half the cost of my other daily driver it is very much worth it. What made me look at the vehicle at all was seeing the commercials comparing itself in performance and quality to other European models. From a feature stand point I would agree. ****, I don't have a seat massager in any other vehicle but this one :woo-hoo: I was not in the market for a vehicle until a week before I brought the vehicle home and decided to give American cars a look and try and help out the economy when I purchased a car. I like what Ford is ATTEMPTING to do and look forward to seeing improvement. I really want to give Ford another shot soon. We’ll see. Oh yeah, For god sakes put the My Touch in the Taurus or Flex (Wanted to buy one for the family, gonna hold off for now!)

My only question is...when you were looking at cars to buy, what was the SHO's competition? If you decided not to buy the SHO, what would have been your second or third choice?

It sounds like most of your problems have been addressed by TSB's so Ford is aware of them and has repairs for most of them. Question I have for you...do you like the car other then the problems you have experienced? I find it very rare that any new car doesn't experience some problems, hope you can get your problems corrected and you like your SHO as much as I love mine. And yes I have experienced problems with new Fords, GM's, Mazda's, and Toyota's...but luckily most of my dealers corrected them without much hassle.

Every car has issues. Ford will fix it and you will be happy again. Theres no need to rant about it.

And keep in mind that the 2010 model year is the first model year of this completely new platform. Many of the issues mentioned for the 2010 model appear to have been addressed for 2011. It's difficult to catch everything in HALT/HASS testing, more things will crop up in real-world use.

I'm glad you are giving Ford a chance and hope you are not disappointed in the long term. Welcome to the forum!

He has every right to Rant about it, He just spent a lot of money on a performance Luxury sedan. Squeaks and rattles are not in the definition of Luxury last time I checked. Like you said, Ford will fix it! But it should not be an issue in the first place.

You guys are tough! For my last vehicle I bought a 2005 Infiniti G35X. I thought I would not have the issues like on an American car. Don't get me wrong, the G35 was an excellent car but far from perfect. It had rattles and squeaks for its entire life. And it was, basically, a generation 2 model after the 03/04. I got rid of most of those but a couple were impossible to find. I had the car for 115,000 miles. It is why I did not stay with the brand. So I decided to go back to American. I must say that in 17,500 miles on my SHO it has less issues than the Infiniti and most of those have been addressed by Ford. I believe it's unreasonable to expect a vehicle with all its parts to be perfect right out of the box but that Ford has done a marvelous job with this model.

This is my first automatic transmission vehicle and since i was trying to stay in American performance sedan on this pass my next choices were the CTS V, Charger/300m SRT 8, or the Pontiac G8

See I have to agree with SHOpazz... I don't have any issues yet with the new Ecoboost motor or any new technology like that. It's squeaks, rattles, grinds, and above all the peeling chrome lights. Let me be clear, I'm not against Ford at all (yet) but to me that seems like these are the basics and not a function of a new vehicle. If you can't get the basics right it makes me wonder about the longterm quality... I'm confident the dealership will fix me up; to their credit they have been really great (Lafayette Ford). Addressing the issues is exactly what I expect I just feel that a vehicle at this price point should not have these issues to begin with!

I came from an 04 G35 sedan 6MT and that car was great but far from perfect as well. It didn't have any rattles but did have its share of issues that were fixed within the warranty period..... New Nav unit, new radio, new power seat switches, new brakes were what I remember.

In 08 (out of warranty), I needed a new AC condenser (the originals were made out of recycled Bud cans), new Body Computer to the tune of $1400.

It was a great car - started right up all the time and was mechanically reliable. Traded it at 94k or so.

I've had less issues with the SHO and expect it to run just as well and last just as long.

Hmmm, I thought the MKS Ecoboost was the performance luxury sedan?

Infinity is Nissan which is a almost 50% French(renault). NOw, knowing how french like to stuff their cars with crazy electronics, no wonder most of nissan cars now have problems with electronics; french were never good at it. As for fixing cars after they sell them.......... NOw, why would I want to buy anything form anybody and then strugle with it because it doesn't work like it suppose to?And why is it that Japaneese, like Toyota, try to make sure their cars are made without defect before they sell you the car, instead of making the car, selling it to people and then taking 5 cars out of 5000, test them, find problems and make dealers recall them for repairs?
I also understand mistakes, but constant mistakes I don't understand. It seems that constant mistakes are made for a purpose.
When I looked at new SHO last year, i kinda liked it, but was a little afraid of a lot of things about it, mostly interior parts and now I read on this forum that almost everyone have problems with their new SHo interior. I just sit back and keep reading what else happens with these cars. Don't get me wrong i would like to get this car one day, but with these problems, that I would have to end up going through and probably spending my own money on, I would rather buy some hooked up Hyundai, or some avarage Audi.

Hey....we don't ALL have problems! The single problem I've had on my car had nothing to do with the build and everything to do with storage/lot rot. The only problem I had is that the front brake rotors were rusty on the brake plates and wouldn't clear up since the rust would keep clearancing the pads. I really thought Ford would replace them, but they would only cut them at that time. I didn't want that so I paid for new ones....Other than that the car has been flawless....I'm sure something will crop up, but it certainly has been a good car overall, and I'm very happy with all the amenities.....

What issues is everyone having with the interior?

Other then a few having rattles (some of which Ford has addressed by TSB) I don't think many people have had interior problems. The people who do run into problems usually post here as a help in case someone else experiences the same problem. Really for all the SHOs produced in the first 2 production years, the car is pretty problem free...yes, some do have some honest problems, but i doubt you will find any new car that doesn't have a list of things that creep up in that first or second year. Besides, I am not very wild on buying a Hyundai or an Audi, those cars are far from being trouble free....

Cts v > sho

Interesting that you should post this...just saw a piece on the CTS and I was quite surprised that it really doesn't do anything much better then the SHO and to have it fully equipped the price tag tickles $70,000.00!!! Can't say as i really believe that for a supercharged V-8 that gets less mileage and isn't really any faster then the SHO that it would be worth 20 grand to me for the CTS.

If your talking about a CTS-V, then I must say it will blow the doors off the SHO. How do I know, I own both of them. The CTS-V pumps out 565 HP, in comparison to my SHO at 365 HP. Each car has its own attractions. The "V" is a unique car and does have a some nice styling and some interior pluses. All depends on what someone is after.
