Sorry for re-posting this topic, but i feel it's very important and effects all.

I read through all of the threads about the hesitation, because my 2011 with 2000km started to act strange at about 800km. Calling my dealer today and providing him with the number TSB10174 as posted, the service manager read the symptoms. They are as follows;

Low RPM upshift - high gear cruising at low speed and 900 RPM.

Delayed downshift - which feels like long hesitation.

Transmission clutch SLIPPAGE!!! - right at the shift point the RPM creeps up then sags down. (this one ****** me off the most)

Cruise dropping out for no reason.

Collision alert malfunction message in message center. - along with "sensor blocked"

And a few more I can't remember. I don't have a physical copy of the bulletin. I will try to get it. Car is going in Monday AM. I have everyone of these symptoms.

Here is the solution:
Remove trans pan. Check resistance on 5 leads. If out of spec, replace sensor in trans. 2.5 hrs flat rate.
I don't know which sensor, but I will find out.
Stay tuned.

3 times now, after leaving home and stopping at the 2-nd stop sign on my route to work, maybe a half of a mile away. As I accelerate from the stop sign for about a second or second and a half I experience what feels like a tranny slip followed by a thud into gear. Not a terribly violent thud, in fact a somewhat mild thud.

Sounds like the Transmission clutch SLIPPAGE!!! described in your post. At this point no other symptoms are apparent (1,275 miles so far)

I was told that the car was out of the build date for the TSB !?!?, even with all the symptoms. They are now talking to the Ford Engineers for direction.

Think I'm going to have to sell mine with the lack of support. I can't get mine fixed. Dealerships will not open a case for it because it will cost them money with no clear evidence or replicating the problem.

You know, another TSB with the PCM chip update or reprogram or whatever ..I had that done and there was never any record as a warranty claim with Ford and they gave me no paperwork. I don't know if it is done.

I'm still waiting on the brake parts for that TSB.

I may just have to sell this thing. I don't really want to have to.

Have you tried escalating your concerns up the chain of command?

I.e. contact the Service Manager of the Dealership?

How about the General Manager?

Zone/Area Rep?

Or the 1-800 number?

Selling seems kind of extreme without taking it up the chain of command here.

I thought you sold it already? Didnt you say something about never coming back here and selling the car because the community here wasn't a bunch of people who hate everyone but those like themselves?

Which 1-800 number? Ford? I did try that but they weren't of much help. They recommended I contact a dealership and offer to connect me to one. I have not tried escalating my complaints within a dealership service department. I'm not sure what good that would do if they have this policy in place at all of them, to not open a case without any clear evidence.

I've discovered they aren't doing it for the Lemon Law although that was the implication I thought that was being made from what a service tech told me. I've since found out I'm not even covered by the Lemon Law because I bought both our SHO and Limited mine used. They will not open a case, warranty complaint, without evidence because Ford will not pay for it under warranty but the dealership would have to. That is the most recent explaination I have and it makes good sense.

Dealership and I have to prove it to Ford or one of us pays and not Ford. I haven't ever had this problem before so I didn't really know how it worked.

My wife probably will not let me sell the SHO. She said she would take it despite the problems and we would sell her Limited. I'd still have to repair the transmission down the road and/or face some wild accident caused by our SHO transmission failing.

One thing interesting is that the service guys I speak with insist there will be a code thrown by the computer if this TSB occurs but I haven't had one with my symptoms. I have not had "Limp Home Mode" yet but I've had the slippage and the loss of acceleration (just no power) and hard, violent clutch throws.

I'll take your suggestion and escalate it within the department then.

I would.

Go ahead and run it up the chain of command. Talk to the Dealership General Manger if you have to. Ask them to ride with you in the car.

Update - even though mine is out of the build date for the TSB, they were able to recreate one of the symptoms and ford approved the TSB repair through warranty. The pan will be dropped, the sensor will be changed and we will see if that rectifys the issue.

Newad, if your confident your symptoms are in the TSB, just book it in and have them do the check on your nickel, it's only 2.5 hours. If it is confirmed, Ford has to do it under warranty. Either way it will be fixed. It will cost less than the deprecation on the sale.
Just a thought.

What is the sensor part #? I wonder if it would be cheaper just to buy the sensor and do it yourself?

Got the car back on Friday. They took out the trans valve body and replaced the shift range sensor. Happy to report the SHO feels like it did when I drove off the showroom floor.:woo-hoo:

Does this TSB 10-17-4 cover the Blind Spot Sensors as well?? My Blind spot system malfunctions almost every time I drive it. It always resets once I turn the car off and back on again but it is still annoying.......

In what manner does it malfunction? Just curious.

Basically the Blind spot light stays on (mind you it's only on the driver's side and never the passenger side) and I get a message that says Blind Spot Malfunction. It just doesn't work until I stop the car, turn it off and then turn it back on again.....

My car is a 2011 so I'm not sure if they same TSB for the 2010's will cover it.....

I had the TSB performed on my car. The BLIS system is better but not perfect. I still get false readings when there is no car present but at least I have not seen a situation where there is a car in the blind spot and the system misses it. I suppose it being a little too aggressive is better than not aggressive enough.

Mine does go off for guardrails, trees, and other stationary objects but it really hasn't bothered me...I don't know how the system is supposed to know the difference between stationary objects and moving objects while the vehicle is in motion.
