IIRC the 3.0 starter is 12 teeth, and the 3.2 starter is 10 teeth. Either starter will work on either car, but the 12 tooth will not last as long on a 3.2.

See, every time I deride somebody for asking a question that 10 seconds in the search field would've solved (like this one), people jump on my ass for being "mean" and "driving new people away" and the like. I just can't please you people.

Thing is, this ain't a new guy. It's a guy who refuses to use the search function for no reason at all. He sent me a PM regarding my comments. He's not happy about my search suggestion, as usual. I even answered his question (granted, you already had), but he says "if you don't want to help then don't post to me".... thick head is thick. :smash:

I have to agree with him. Even if there is already a thread, what's the harm in another? Is anyone worried about having too much information in this database? Maybe someone that wasn't around when the first thread was there will contribute something useful in a new one.

Bandwidth costs money, and redundant threads clutter up the results when people DO use the search function (which makes searches take longer). If someone has something useful to contribute, they can post it in the original thread, or make a new one and cite the original. It's not like all old threads are locked.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that we shouldn't be able to start new threads. That would defeat the purpose of the forum. But this guy has not made any useful contributions (that I know of) to the forum, and starts a new thread for every little question he has. AND they're usually incomprehensible. Search for old threads started by him and you'll see what I mean.

Yeah, some people come here to learn new information - and some people just come here to spread their username as far around the forum as they can in as short a time as possible for whatever reason.

OP definitely strikes me as the latter. I get pissy when I see n00bs coming here and asking dumb-ass questions, because all they're doing is making it harder for n00bs that aren't dumb-***** to find the threads with good info in them that's been there for years by doing a 5-second search.

When I first came to this forum, I spent almost two weeks going categorically through each page and opening every thread that looked interesting. I learned more in my first two weeks than I have in the 6 years since. And I've learned a lot in the last 6 years.

Now if you search for a problem, and you can't find your answer, then posting a thread and at least pretending you searched will net you much better results than going "HAI GAIZ HOW HARD IS IT TO REPLACE TIMING BELT LAWLZ" will.

tl;dr search more, talk less.

P.S. I have 4,900ish posts. That's just in the tech sections; I probably have closer to 7,000 posts total counting the open sections. You know how many threads I've started? 116. 61 of those threads have been in the Tech sections. You can look yourself; just go to advanced search, and find all threads started by me in the Gen 1&2 maintenance and upgrade sections. 61 threads, over 6 years. That's 10 threads a year, and at least 35 of those threads are informational in nature. I only start a thread when I have information to put out, or when I absolutely cannot find the answer to my question at all when I search. Somehow I've managed to get to know the SHO pretty f***ing well only posting less than one thread a month. You can do it too.

A large number of threads about the same subject is NOT helpful in quickly finding an answer. Answering the same question over and over is NOT efficient or effective for anybody.

Lazy people don't mind taking up other people's time. Many people are generous to a degree, but having to answer the same question repeatedly will wear anybody down.

Search please.

And if our words aren't convincing enough...

Search before posting.

99% of the info or help that you seek has already been answered numerous times. That doesn't mean that we don't want fresh content or to not discuss new ways of doing things, but for common problems, the answers are already there.

I remember reading where this jibble jabble talk about someone in a tech section is not welcomed. If you want to discuss this, go to the open forums. This is the tech section, strictly tech information. This is why searches are becoming non useful, you look for tech information and it's filled with negative comments not pertaining to the thread topic. And FWIW, having X amount of post in the tech sections does not mean you are contributing anything or have superior knowledge over another member. The most knowledged owners do not post in here that often and have very low post count...

Yes, the starters will interchange. I've never had any problems or decreased life from using one on another.

Searching works sometimes other times you can't find a darn thing. Either way the question has been answered. No more auguring is needed.
