Dumb question of the day, but how does the grille come off, bumper first?

Yeah, the bumper coming off isn't that hard, but the damn little push pins that hold all the chrome trim pieces together are a PITA! The grille IIRC is in 3 pieces. Once you remove the grill you'll see. Go back and look at some threads. Mine was titled "Go Team Silver" or something like that and look up SHODWN's post's towards this time frame last year about de-chroming. We both removed our bumpers and modded them. Did mine when it was cold out and the little tabs were not wanting to cooperate at all. Good luck with it and if ya can't find them, I can repost mine from my cpu for ya. ;)

SHO U UP, Thanks for the info I figured it would not be easy! I put some black tape on my grille to see if I would like it and my two sons said Dad, what did you do to the SHO! Looks really cool, Ford should have made it that way from the factory. Thanks, and your car looks great!

I'm not trying to hijack this thread but why can't anyone make grilles like this?

The bottom grille with SHO in it makes me happy in pants. Obviously it is a concept picture but still, i'd rock that grille over the factory one.

Like i said, the aftermarket parts for this car suck atm.

Wait until fords new Taurus Police car comes out. It has a grill just like that.

Put some black tape on the grille to see how it would look, I like it! A good friend of mine works at the local dealer, he is going to get the paint with the adhesion promoter and paint it for me. People have noticed driving the car around the last few days, its cool!

SHOTom, I like it too! I have a Black SHO and want to black out the grill as well....
I think I would like to paint the whole thing black though... does anyone know what's involved? Can you paint over the chrome or does that need to be removed? I know...it's a stupid question but I just don't have any experience painting anything... lol

I had my chrome painted right over Zeus. Less than 24 hours, it was all done and back on the car. It's a real JOY playing with the bumper and removing it though. :nut:

Take a look up at post #6 there bud. You'll see what I did. ;)

Oh shit. haha Sorry I actually did read this whole thread I just didn't realize that was your car! It looks great on your silver SHO! With my car being black, I think the effect will look more "severe" than yours. Chrome doesn't bother me as much on a silver car as on my black car.

Yeah, chrome on a lighter color car doesn't look as bad for sure. I will probably leave the tail light chrome alone just so it matches the trunk's lettering. One day I'll end up painting the lettering and do it all over again back there. I'm waiting to see what Ford will do for the next years change. :naughty:

I think this one was already posted in another thread, but I liked it. Just the silver bars painted and not too dark on the smoked headlights.
