Which center rear LED light are you referring to? Are you referring to the Center High Mount Stop Lamp (CHMSL)? And it's a "SHO."

many vehicles today have a set of lights in the back to alert traffic that your vehicle is stopping when you apply the brake pedal

the light you are referring to is one of them, many vehicles today have this feature
