Well, only one video, and it wasn't shooting a dog. We were out in southwestern Nebraska, on the west end or Harlan County Resevoir. My friends dad has a cabin down there, and knows quite a few landowners. The first spot has had quite a bit of pressure, so they get a little gun shy. We triend another spot today about noon, and found out that they had been poisoned, and only saw 5-10.
Then, after a few phone calls, we were able to get on another property. This one was HUGE, about 1.5 square miles, and there were quite a few around. According to one person, they had neve been shot at. The desk and two chairs that were sitting out when we got there told us otherwise. They were gunshy, but not as bad as the first spot.
2-Savage .17 cal rimfire both with 4 power scopes
.223 Howa 1500 Heavy Varmint w/6-24x44 BSA scope
.223 Smith & Wesson M&P AR-15 w/3-9x36 Bariska handle mount scope
2-.50 muzzleloaders (needed to be shot, only once each)
.22 Ruger 10/22
Between three of us, we shot about 300 .223 rounds, 150 .17 rounds, and 100 .22 rounds.
Death tole of 15 Prairie Dogs, 6 ground squirrels, two birds, and a shit load of dirt. Talk about a bad **** ratio....
I shot 4 of the ground squirrels, all of which where with my Howa. Two where at about 130-150 yards, two were within 50. 45 grain Nosler ballistic tips are pretty rough on grounds squirrels.
Zombie **** of the week goes to Travis for shooting the bird off of a stick at 100 yards, with a 15 MPH side wind, with a .17, and in the sitting position. First shot hit the stick about 6 inches below the bird, the second split it in half (the bird).
This was only my second attempt at this, and it was decent at best. It was a **** of a good time, but the **** ratio sucks. We're also not on the best ground, the towns were huge, but kinda sparse. Hopefully by mid-summer, there will be a few more out.
