Do I need to rewire the speakers myself, or can I buy a wiring harness to hook it up, just like anyother car?

They make a harness. Crutchfield usually includes them if you buy the stuff from them; if not, I think they sell them separate. Otherwise, you can check Ebay or a car audio electronics store.

I,ve always gotten my harnesses from wal-mart. Since the SHO's have a dual wired system you will not have to run any speaker wire, just have to unplug the amps in the trunk.

ok thats what I was wondering about; the actual amps in the back. I did just stop at walmart and of course they didn't have the harness I needed in stock.....

just to be clear, will a wiring harness for a regular taurus work for the sho? I don't want to go to walmart and buy one that says "taurus" and it not work.

well I don't think a regular taurus harness will work now that I've looked at it. My car has the JBL sound. So it needs something different. I found a wiring harness on crutchfield. It comes with 2 seperate plugs, and a harness to bypass the stock amplifiers.

Yes, buy the harness for the regular taurus. Just look for the plug on the dash support to the left inside the din slot. Its a black flat plug, thats for the speakers. Then wire everything up and disconnect the amps, you should be good to go.

Just an FYI...if you forget to unplug the amps in the truck, it blows the fuse on the new deck.

I would agree...use the black plug on the left hand side which are the wires that go directly to the speakers and bypasses the amps.

If he put the factory deck in he would have had to plug the amps back in. When he put the alpine back in, he probably forgot to unplug them again. As for the one speaker not working, may have been a loose wire at the speaker, or nit making connection at the harness.

anyway to use an aftermarket head unit and still keep the amps/subs working in the back? until i can upgrade the entire system anyways. jbl premium sound here was premium for 93.... but for 2010 nuh uh! OR should i just wait until i have everything i want to replace and do it up all at once? (i wants new speakers all around 2 subs 1amp for speakers 1 amp for subs, and of course a new head unit and new wires)

Course - Why not..... Before I sold my SHO I started taking the sound system apart and selling everything off. I had a JVC connected to the factory wiring in the dash powering all 4 stock speakers first going through an aftermarket amp then using the amp by-pass clip that came with the wiring kit.

Where abouts in Mass are you?

Wow that just saved me money. I've installed alot of stereos over the past 10 years but never with a ford jbl setup. I was about to pay an extra 75 bucks for the "correct" wiring from my local car audio dealer that would have integrated the factory amp with my new stereo. Now I will just bypass it because before I didnt know that plug was hidden there. I read what you said grabbed my coat and went outside to check and there it is. Thanks a million.

boston area. the thropp. lmao. it took me a good long while to get a factory cd player to work with mine, it seemed i was missing a wire here n there. its just not powerful enough haha. i dont wanna spend a ton of money but i think i can just get like some stuff at a time, maybe better to rewire or lay the new wires down first? then get the rest? i have no idea
