I had a set of CM lowering springs on the front of my 95 Taurus previously and they advertised a 2" drop. However, they only dropped the car 1.5" after settling. One of the reasons I think was that my stock struts on the 95 had a spacer plate about a 1/4" thick that went on the top of the strut mount before you installed the struts. I used the plate when putting in my lowering springs and Monroe Sensitrac struts. I will be using the combo on my 93 SHO.

My question is : Who has lowered there car without using the top plate and were there any problems without? I want to make sure the springs won't rub the strut tower as thats why they were probably used on my 95.

IIRC, they're wagon springs, so on a SHO you can only use the front. They're supposed to lower the front 2.25". I've always thought about picking up a set because Intrax just doesn't lower the front enough for me.

Canuck Motorsports is a Canadian company, they sell mainly through ebay and their website. The springs gave a very good ride with my Sensitracs, and are sold at a good price. And yes, there wagon springs and I bought them for $130 and just used the fronts.

Anyone lower there car without using the front spacer plates having trouble with noise when turning?

Dude I hope you`re not talking about the top plate bearings (spacers) , you need those man.

I have lowered mine with cut moog springs (new) without a hinch with new top plate bearings.

No, I just mean the 1/8" spacer plate that St. Louis SHO was mentioning. I don't want to use them so the car will be lower but don't want to end up with noise from the springs rubbing the side of the strut tower shell.

Sounds like you didn't use the plate so I guess no noise for you when turning? The springs come close to hitting the sides when the proper alignnment holes are hogged out and everything set up.

I looked them up, and didn't see anything for the taurus wagon? They had every other make and model..... Unless there not on there list? Or is this a shop that doesn't carry them anymore? I'm asking as I have a project that would need some lowering springs?

Sorry for the thread highjack!

No problem. just checked and there website looks different now. They still had them on the website last month. Maybe they forgot to list them after website revamp or maybe they're not selling them anymore, but email them and if theres a few who want them they may make another batch. It took 2 weeks to make my set as they had no stock when I ordered.

Do you have any pictures of them installed? Also, how many miles/how much time have they been on the car?

Now I know what that noise is! I When I finished putting my struts on I saw those sitting on the ground, I have yet to put them back in, is there any problems that can arise from this, will it go away when it gets warm again?

Just noise. Mine didnt start until it got cold out. All summer it was fine. I might grab some from the yard on day and eventually put them in. Its too cold to be f'in around with all that over noise right now.

Considering you had them on a SLO, on a SHO (especially an ATX), it'll sit significantly lower due to the increased weight.

That's what I want to hear. Hopefully It will sit 2" lower.

I did notice that the drop you get with lowering springs will depend on the strut you use as well. The Sensitracs have a slightly bigger (1/4") distance between the strut tab and the spring seat vs the stock struts, so I cut the tab down 1/4" on the Sensitracs before I installed them on the SLO.
