I just picked up 2 spoilers from the local junkyard off of a Gen 2 SHO. Ill be modifying one to fit on my 1st gen. has anyone done this? any photos? I was going to add the M style spoiler, but when it arrived it was a piece of rubber (kind of looked like border people use on floors) so thats definately going on there, haha.

The gen2 spoiler is much more curved in the top view than a gen1 Plus spoiler. No matter what you do to it it will not look correct. Mid 80's firebird spoilers look pretty good IMO, but I would just buy a proper gen1 Plus spoiler.

i set the spoiler on top of the trunk lid today im going to have to fiberglass and fill in the area that is really gapped, and add some longer screws so they will go through the trunk, i think it will look nice when its all completed..ill post pics whenever i get started with it..I was looking into the firebird spoiler but I dunno, maybe I will pick one up from the junkyard next weekend..test that out too, I just want something different, and PLUS spoilers are hard to come by

exactly what did you do to make it fit that good??

It wasnt really that bad honestly. All I did was take the screws out of the spoiler just to get an idea of where to start sanding..wasnt really much modding I needed to do. I inserted some pics showing were I sanded..you wont get too good of an idea with the pics, since they sucks..haha. but anyways in the pic where it is blue I sanded to where it would lay flush with the body, you have to do quite a bit of sanding where the back part meets the side part of the spoiler (the straight piece of spoiler ((looking at the underside of the spoiler)) running straight with the gap between the trunk and rear quarter panel) wont really lay flush until you sand where I painted the pic red where the screws go into the spoiler. Also you have to sand the back of the spoiler where it would lay against the back of the trunk, as flat as you can get it...you have to take a good bit off. (painted in pink) pretty much you will be taking it off and putting it back on about a billion times..and when you get all the sanding done you are not finished yet! (this is where I am at in the project) no matter how much sanding you will do there is going to be a noticeable gap on that back part of the spoiler where the 3rd brake light is to the trunk. so you will have to get some fiberglass and go to town at it and get it flush. I was trying to do it this weekend but got caught up. It looks good as it is now (with the gap) cant notice it really unless you open the trunk and it is staring right at you! haha. I dont know if I will be keeping the spoiler once it is done, I pulled a Thunderbird spoiler and will be getting a new trunk lid to try that out, see how it looks. Seems like it will look good after placing it on the existing trunk.

whew...ramble much? haha. I hope I didnt lose anyone halfway through.

What I would get for them wouldnt be enough considering the work I'd have to put into it to make it worthy of selling. Because installing it on my car I dont feel obligated to make it look and fit "perfectly" but if I made them to sell I would want them to be flawless and perfect as possible..too much work if you ask me. I have another 2nd Gen spoiler (green) that I will sell as is or I might fit it to a 1st Gen to help the non-spoiler owners. I don't know yet. If I go with the Thunderbird spoiler I will most likely sell this spoiler. I'll keep you guys posted.

Well I will be going again this saturday for sure..Might pull an engine for 80 bucks :naughty: I'll take some pics if I remember my camera, is there something you need? 3 2nd gens..40 bucks to pull whatever you can carry from the office to the gate...about 30 ft. I love this place. me and a buddy of mine got a Hood for his K5 blazer, and stacked stuff on top (a bumper, wheels wells, 2 spoilers, MAFS, PCM's, coil packs, etc....and walked out.

Heading off topic, but I've heard of a real sneaky move. Remove a door from a car, take the interior panel off, fill it with smaller parts like coil packs, DIS modules, etc, put the panel back on, buy the door, empty it at home, and return the door later. Yay theft!

this salvage yard is as-is no returns..but for 40 bucks a person you can pull whatever you want..and my friend needed the k5 blazer hood, so it worked as a good platform to carry all my junk..haha..but if a salvage yard accepts returns i'd say your idea COULD work..but if your caught is it worth getting an ass whooping or jail time? :p
