Hi , everyone, I'm working on my Gen2 and was thinking to do bi or twin turbo. I know i need forged pistons and maybe crank, but is there potential to do something like that? Let me know what you guys think. Thanks

You do realize the stock Crank is Forged, Don't you?

So what do I think?

Well based off that one statement, I would suggest doing a search.

Welcome to the forum. There is a sticky in the 'Forced Induction/Nitrous/Tuning' section about turbocharging the SHO. A little long-winded, and the author is a bit of dipwad, but some good info nevertheless.

IMO, keep the stock pistons (they will support more power than your transaxle), and spend that money on other supporting mods (fuel system and tuning for instance). Even starting off with a junk-yard turbo is ok, just to get your feet wet. Just make sure and have solid supporting mods (proper MAF, quality hotpipes, quality WG, injectors, WB and other gauges). Once the cheap turbo blows, you will have some experience under your belt, and the rest of the setup will be ready for the quality hand-picked turbo that will power your SHO for the rest of it's days.

how about block? I thought block was vulcan.

Nope, it's Yamaha. Honestly, you should not be looking at turbocharging the engine, you obviously know very little about the car. That's not meant as a dig, I'm just trying to be frank. Drive it as it is for now, in a year or two once you've learned about it more, then think about turbo.

the engine needs pistons, but only if your planning on making a good bit more then 400hp

the only thing vulcan about ANY of the SHO's was the engine in the test mule car, the prototype SHO engines done with a vulcan block did not survive durability testing, so Yamaha created all new EVERYTHING

twin turboing a SHO engine should only be done if the engine is no longer in a SHO, a TT SHO motor in a SHO chassis thats still FWD is going to be a nightmare of a build

however TT'ing a SHO engine is a great option in anything RWD where the engine is positioned the PROPER way

HAHA hotrod, the S.H.O. engine is positioned just fine! And as it sits from the hand of the Yamagods themselves, with nothing more than a single turbo, is how it will reside as the quickest and fastest S.H.O. powered vehicle out there!!! Throwing the gauntlet!! 2010 is the year of the SHOspeed Project!!!

I didn't get that wild, but I did think that perhaps someone may have cleaned a throttle body with carb cleaner again.

I said a novena.
