Just bought the car, the guy said he never did valve lash, timing belt, or water pump so no major maintence was done, He replaced the spark plugs and wires. The car does run and drive and it drives good but it definatley has a problem it sounds like its running not clean because you will hear it clear up. Is it possible this is a bad fuel filter or the cats are plugged up. it has 205,000 miles and the guy I bought it from said he bought it at 120,000

Could be a hundred different things. Dirty Maf, or Oil in the plug wells would be my first guess if he never did any maintenance.

it does it all the time, anything else you all might consider doing other than, 02 sensors, timing belt, water pump, cps, valve lash obviously?? I havnt been able to run codes but am planning on looking the car over some more tomorrow.

Couple questions on the valve lash actually. how long can you wait on it do you really have to do it every 60K? How difficult is it to do I am a mechanically inclined person and everything that is done to my cars especially SHOS is going to be done by me I will not ever take my car to a shop or a dealer way too much money and it took the guys up here at Lindstrom motors a week to do the power steering pump on my 93 it costed over $500 and I supplied the part.
