That's ridiculous. Why don't you compare it to the ZR-1 while you're at it?

i am horribly confused as to what you are saying. Why would I compare a ZR1 with a G37/370Z/SHO?

Edit: Also, the 370Z only has 50 lb/ft more torque than an ATX does. I don't care what horsepower looks like, that's crap. The SHO has 100 lb/ft on the 370.

Kind of impressive that Nissan squeezed almost as much power out of a 3.7 as the ecoboost has, but to be honest I'd rather have the Ecoboost. Gobs more useable torque

did you think i was trash talking the ecoboost or something?

This thread was cool until someone brought a 370Z into it. :rainshit:

Although, I love the 370Z, it's just a completely different car, and in a whole different class.

That's what I'm trying to say. The 370 is as alike to the SHO as Billy Idol is alike to Billy Crystal.

What really interests me is that it appears that Torrie got a 6.75 1/8-mile on that pass. Kirk posted his best time from last night (13.62) and "only" had an 8.81 1/8-mile.

FWIW, that's HUGE, especially considering the car weight.

We will see consistant 12's here in no time. I don't care for the new platform but I have to admit it is badass that the car runs better than what everyone predicted.

sorry for throwing it out there, I was trying to think of the highest output VQ engine and thats the Nismo. Like I said right after posting the 370Z, a G37 sedan fits nicely too, or at least enough for Inside line to do a test of the two.

I swear people on this forum need to take chill pills.

Trap speed is meaningless; who gets there first is the only thing that matters in the 1/4; and with a 450 lbs disdvantage, the stock boost level SHO V6 still easily outruns the S4. Let's give credit where credit is due; a great powerplant and the fastest V6 out there. IF someone were to pull off 450 lbs of fat from the SHO, it would have far better handling, braking and accelleration than it does now. No need for downpipes or exhaust for 12's; just a better launch, and when he ups the boost probably will see mid 12's,

You are absolutely right about trap speeds being somewhat irrelevant when looking at 1/4 mile times. However there is a reason that trap speeds are given, it gives you a a much bigger idea of the capabilities of the car as a whole. The ET and trap speed go hand in hand, taking one by itself doesn't tell you the whole story. Its like looking at a hot girl, but not seeing her man hands and adams apple. I do agree though, and said it, that the ET is obviously faster than a stock S4. The trap speeds are identical though.

Down pipes and a full exhaust would provide a good chunk of hp. It will also be a mod that can really help without messing with the stock boost levels. Downpipes and full exhaust along with a retune to use the extra flow would be a great way to take advantage of the stock engines capabilities without manipulating the stock boost levels. But who knows how **** Ford will be on their warranty claims. Audi/VW dealers are pretty good about allowing mods until it causes the problem, then you are on your own. Hopefully Ford will be the same, but I am not holding my breath.

I think we are in agreeance on the ecoboost being a quality engine so far, but the bloated package it comes in is hindering its overall capabilities (obviously, like you said, less weight=better).

A 6.75 1/8th would be awesome, and would also translate into a 10 sec 1/4.

In thinking about it, it might have not been the 1/8 time. You can see it flash on the track display during his run. I'm used to that screen showing your r/t, then an 1/8 time. Could be different in FL.

It could be the 330' time. if so, that's slow, as Kirk's 330' time was about 5.75 for his 13.62 run. Makes the 13.17 even more amazing.

EDIT: Back in Post #2 the timeslip is shown. 695 (not 675) was the r/t. 330' was under 6 like Kirk.

Never Mind!!

Looks like the new SHO is neck to neck with a G8 GT. That would be cool to have a drag shootout between the 2.

Why?

It's a dead car, limited to whatever stock is available at the dealers Anyone who buys one has an instant orphan.

It pretty much slots between a regular 300C/Charger Hemi and the SRT8 models.

But fewer $$$ will be required to get better times with the SHO. Turbos rule!!
