I'm not saying you're making this up, but as far as a 6 speed manual and a sho having some insane amounts of power in the near future... I'll believe it when i see it.

Yea, there is a bit of turbo whistle/whine on accel. Strangly though, no real sound from a blow off (I think it's called) between shifts. Maybe because the shifts are lightning fast!?!

Won't hear it accelerating like that in an automatic. Automatics will stay in boost while shifting.

ME TOO! I'm not much for automatics but if the production version shifts the way this one did (ie. paddle shifters) I may be converted!?!

No, we wern't talking cfm! He did say pounds of boost. As a matter of fact I didn't ask about psi he volenteerned the info. However, I did mistate the factory boost level. It will be set at 12psi (6psi per turbo/bank) not 11psi as I stated above.

that is not exactly how air pressure works. if one turbo was producing 6 psi you would have 1 bucket full of air at 6psi. if two turbos were producing 6psi you have two buckets full of air at 6 psi. My point being both turbos are producing 12psi at their max output. You don't get to add air pressure together to get a greater number. 6 psi and 6psi make 6 psi just at a greater volume of air.

it would be neat to believe what this guy is feeding you but I have a tough time biting. the bottom line is those small turbo's can only feed so much air. they are not a whole lot bigger than KO4's (yes i know KO3's are stock) from a audi S4 and they only push about 25psi near their max and they are pumping a LOT of heat at that level. I just think the guy was feeding you a bit of story to go with the facts.

I would also like to see a 6 speed manual but im afraid it probably wont happen.

The MN sho group went to the auto show on Ford's dime to promote the new car this spring. We had a chance to talk to the midwest region Ford rep and i asked him straight out if there is going to be or any intensions in the future of a manual transmission option infront of several other sho owners. He said "we have NO intensions of offering a manual option. We appreciate the ********* owners like yourselves that do like shifting but you are a very small market that we are going after with this car and i just doesnt make sense to offer a manual."

It could be posible that they are keeping it a secret like they did with bringing the sho back in the first place? Or maybe they will wait to see what sales are like first?

He did say the that the auto trans will take 400hp but he didnt know about anymore beyond that.

Doubt it. In 93-95 when both mtx and atx were offered, atx sho's made up about 80% of sales each year (usually more). So the automatic trans is going to get probably about 80% of people who wanted a sho anyway. That being said, you may say well they're losing 20% of their possible sales then. Well not really because in retrospect, id say at least half of that 20% will still buy a sho even if it is an automatic. So that leaves maybe 10% that they lose, and being a limited production car to begin with, that's not really going to be a whole ton of people. Considering how much more engineering and how many more parts would have to go into producing full manual transmission sho, I personally just don't see it happening.

I don't know about you guys, but I'm just damn happy to see the sho being produced again, nvm what transmission is in it. I mean really, beggars cant be choosers.

Keep in mind the original Manual Tranny was pretty poor. Nobody in America was going to buy that with an Auto version available other than the purists. But why does BMW still bring over manual versions of most of their cars? The homologation costs must be horrendous for such a small slice of the market....

BMW's are predominantly manuals to begin with; so are Audi's. Nearly every one I have driven, ridden in or rented in Germany are manuals, mostly due to the mpg advantage as petrol prices are more than double our price. According to my colleague who works for Daimler, BMW's and other makes built in Germany are also built with higher quality and are less problematic than the ones built elsewhere, as in the US built models.

Manual transmission vehicles are a much larger segment of new vehicles sales in overseas markets. And since BMW builds their cars for a world market, it's much more cost effective.

if they were going to crush the car anyway why not ramp up the power to see what breaks so they can use it for research.

Ford crushes 99% of all prototype or preproduction cars once development of that car is complete. Ford cannot sell them, because, like he said, they're barely road legal and typically have a lot of the safety systems disabled, like the airbags and ABS. A lot of prototypes have also been slapped together by hand and have been beaten to their breaking points, so that they are not really even safe for daily road use. Ford cannot afford a lawsuit from someone getting injured because the car falls apart. Plus they don't meet federal regulations and therefore cannot be sold in the US without huge gov't fines.

Also preproduction cars are just that, pre-production, meaning they were built in the factory (as opposed to the afformentioned by hand method) up to production specs. you could potentially tweak a preproduction build after it's been built, but the point of those is so that Ford can make sure the factory assembly process works and that there are no problems in final production trim.

I have a hard time believing 23psi as well, because my engineering sources tell me the tranny would grenade at that point, unless it's got a prototype tranny, which is very unlikely, as you have to get sign-offs to be able to even ride in a true prototype vehicle, for insurance reasons.

Pretty much all of the research and testing should be done before preproduction builds are completed at the factory. I believe the motor could have been tested to 23+psi on the dyno, but not in car, at least not with the standard transverse tranny.

Sorry, buddy, but he was doing his job, selling cars and getting you in, hook, line and sinker.

23 LBS is a lot of boost.

I run 27 in my Audi S4, and I can not see a stock exhaust allowing that much flow. I know in the past I have had some supercharged cars that would boost stack, anyone know if that can happen in a turbo car too.

And if it is able to run 23 LBS of boost on a stock motor, with a stock exhaust, and stock intake. There is alot of potential for the car. Should be able to be made in to a pure rocket.

I'm just the messenger! As far as the 23 psi goes I can't confirm nor can I call him a liar. However, this thing was without a doubt more than 365hp. A friend of mine ownes a 300whp EVO that would have a problem with this thing in the 0-60 department.

As far as signing a release to ride in the vehicle, none of the 20 sales people nor myself signed anything. Maybe I should SUE due to mental anguish now that I know about the lack of safety stuff?!?:boohoo:

Your not going to have to sign a Release to drive / Ride in any pre-production vehicle. I certainly didnt when I logged probably 800 Miles in new Taurus/SHO's. It was funny driving these cars knowing that they all were going to be Crushed.

I wish Hennessey would release whatever numbers they are trying to make.

Me too! Being that they are just down the street from me! I had the honor of driving on of their TT SRT8 Grand Cherokee. WHAT A BEAST!

The Ford rep told me they (Hennessey) got one of the 1st preproduction models for testing purposes! Maybe, I'll go visit them on my next day off?!?

There's a difference between pre-production and prototype. Prototypes are the ones that are barely road legal and have pretty much every safety feature deactivated. These are used for testing and developing new components and systems. Pre-production vehicles are ones built at the factory with production parts to work out assembly bugs.

I HIGHLY doubt they are putting out that much psi on the stock turbos, with everything else stock except the boost output.... it doesn't work like that for any other car, why would a SHO be different

there is some truth to this... and not just with German cars

blame crappy american standards and work ethic, most of the younger generation just cares about a paycheck now like its owed to them, they rarely care about their work. Japanese people think its an honor to build cars at the plants... just in general they are harder workers, I've seen a program about people devolping playstation games, I think its was GranTurismo, where they damn near live in their cubicles while they have assignments, they work, sleep, eat, shit... and thats it

Toyota has not been pleased with its production in America. Nissan American production on the Titan/Armada has been flawed left and right. Do you know, in Japan, if you work for Toyota, and screw something up that day, you go finish your work for the day, then stay late--- for free, and fix your problem... kind of an incentive to strive for excellence the first time... this is what I've heard from news sources, I don't work at the factory so don't know for sure.....

BIG DIFFERENCE to the american union workforce who gets paid way too much to slack off...... If American manufactuers had standards and expectations like Toyota for the past 25 years without unions... do you think they would be filling for bankruptcy now...

now you know half the reason why american cars are pieces of shit...

Its called boost creep....its when the w/g can't flow enough gases to limit the turbo. Very common in internal wastegated turbo's.

I've never actually heard of boost stack but I would bet they are the same thing. thank you context clues
