So, after many many years of planning, reading, searching, drooling, and gathering parts... I am FINALLY working on my 3.2 swap. Im very excited!
Here are a couple pics...

Organ Donor- Blue 95 ATX
This car literally had to be pulled out of the ground. We were told that it had sat for 6 years... was last started about 2 years ago but would not move due to an unknown trans issue. A friend of mine bought the car and we went and pulled it up onto a flatbed (when it was about 0 degrees with a -20 degree windchill mind you). The car was unfortunately unsalvageable due to severe neglect and rust.

Having only ever worked on a 3.0 until recently... i was VERY impressed with the weight of the AXOD SHO. Holy $&*% that thing is heavy!

I was glad to see the internals of the 3.2 looked very good. No signs of excessive wear or damage to the crank or pistons. The oil that came out looked dark, but not too bad. No metal shavings or bits in the pan. I believe there is (only) 80K on this motor.

So at this point, im waiting on rod bearings so i can get the bottom end maintenance done. Once thats done, I will get the 3.0 oil pan up on there and get to cleaning up the block. I was relieved to see that it looks like i got a good candidate for a rebuild.

Is it wrong that we used another SHO to pull the cradle out from underneath the donor car??

Oh, and the other things to be done besides the 3.2 swap-
ALSFB, new suspension busings all around, tubular control arms, reinforced H-Brace, battery relocation, and oil filter relocation. Additionally... the laborious task of cleaning and polishing!

Whats so bad about the fram's?

I like the rubber ends they have. They are easy to remove.

Something about the paper, cardboard, and glue element falling apart, the filtering capability of a kleenex... in short, they suck and should be avoided at all costs.

Yes they come apart internally in even water. I used them for years before I had a guy show me how s**tty they were put togather, there was actually holes burned in the paper of the filter on the one he showed me.

You could always buy a can of rubberized underbody coating and do it to the bottom of your filters.

VERY VERY nice build, now don't forget which engine is which,.

yeah I'd stick with a motorcraft, pure one, K&N or mobil 1 filter...... they are all readily available brands from most parts stores.... if I'm not mistaken I even saw walmart selling motorcraft oil filters now....... but they normally have fram only besides that...

I will say it again for you, they are junk.
The fram filter is made for "back row" car lot junker's, not your SHO.

I have been using Purolator, the whole filter has that textured coating on it, makes it easier to turn off by hand. L20195, I believe is the part number on the box.

Nice swap! Mine had the 3.2 swap done on it about 6k miles before I got it. I like it! Good luck with the rest of the swap :thumb:

Update-
i finally got my gasket set and rod bearings. The bottom end is together. Today was supposed to be valve stem seals and shims, but it appears that the rain will be changing my plans. Im getting very excited to have this running again. Im hoping to have the engine, subframe and suspension back on the car by the end of the week.
does anyone have a suggestion on where to buy battery cable? Im relocating the battery to the trunk and about passed out when I saw the prices some of these retailers want for their cable.
Something else exciting, my friend and I are having TCA's made for our SHOs. Another project I have wanted to do since I got the car. Anywho, Ill post pics when I get a little further along.
