Hey everyone, I was checking around on prices to rebuild the tranny on my Gen 2 ATX and I was surprised to find you can still get a reman. tranny from Ford.. did anyone know this?

My question here is to find out what people think about some prices & products..

Option #1) Have the tranny rebuilt from a local Kennedy Transmission. Carry-in price (myself removing the tranny & taking it in) would cost me about $1250 but that does not include a new torque converter.

Option #2) Reman Ford Motorcraft transmission (Part # TRM712) would cost $1593 + approx. $200 freight to get it here. This carries a 3yr/100k mile warranty at any Ford dealer in the country. (Not sure if this comes with new TQ or not?)

Option #3) Jasper Engines & Transmission complete reman transmission WITH new torque converter for $1603 + $75 freight. This also carries a 3yr/100k mile warranty fully transferrable. They claim to do much more "updating" and "beefing" up than what the Motorcraft would have. And they also claim they run and test every engine & transmission before they ship them out.

Has anyone tried a new Motorcraft or Jasper tranny? What are your thoughts on them?

Thanks for your input!

-we put a Ford reman unit in my brothers '94 sho in july '07.....still rolling. only problem he's had is the speed sensor went out. Jasper says their unit comes with a new sensor, but the Ford doesnt. yes they DO come with a new TQ conv. 3yr/100k warranty, but im puzzled why you have to pay shipping???? at least $200 worth.... it only cost us $15 to have it shipped from the warehouse to us at the dealership. about hour away....
but no problems...
ive seen the info on a Jasper unit and they do show to do some "different" things to them for longer life, better service, but do not know anyone who has used one as of yet....and i would be wary of a local rebuild myself, unless they are known to be reallllllllly good.
good luck what ever way you go....:)
