What I just picked up.

Okay, I'll tell you so you will quit guessing.

I just snagged a Ford Service Bay Diagnostic System from Craigslist. It's old and outdated no doubt, but it will be good for me to learn diagnosing on. It's humungous, but it powers up and has a touch screen CRT. Needed a forklift to load it in the back of my truck. It comes with about 50 adaptor cables, update CD's till about October 2000, a remote diagnostic "suitcase" for remote diagnosing and a Customer's car Black Box recorder, which I assume is for data logging over several days.

Even though I don't have any SHO cars left, (only an 86 XR4Ti) it should be fun to see how well it helps diagnose some SHO issues.

I think it runs on an 8086 platform. My grandfather told me about those systems though, so we should be okay.

Sweet! Next time I can't figure something out I'll be up.

BTW, I bet it'll also heat the shop in the winter. ;)

Almost. It did come with some weird 3.5" plastic squares that I'll have to figure out.:nut:

I got to ride around for a while with one of those black box devices for a while back in 96 when I had my first CPS start acting up.

Dealer didn't know what it was, so they put that on there, and told me to call them the next time it stalled. When it did, I got a ride back to Jordan Ford, then handed the keys to an Eddie Bauer Exploder while they swapped my CPS for $20. Man I miss that ESP warranty.. :)

Tom,

I hate to be the one to tell you this, but Ford moved away from those things with good reason.

In fact, they're almost useless now.

I know how frustrating it must be to hear this after you've acquired it, and with it taking up precious space in your garage. So, instead of having to go through the heartache of looking at it, knowing now that it's not nearly as valuable as you hoped it would be, I offer to have it collected and carted off. I know, I know, you might see it as being too kind, but I'd be remiss to not help one of my SHO brethren in their time of need.

Just let me know the details, and I'll have it collected asap.

With warmest regards,
Hamal

Oh, I'll find something on it, don't you worry about that sonny boy.

I've got Russ over at RCM trying to track down an update disc for me right now. The latest that came with it was from Dec of 99. This thing is a dinosaur for sure.

Hi. I apologize for posting in your club forum without having met anybody, but I am looking for advice.
I am getting out of the army in January, and leaving El Paso to move to Phoenix. I own a 1995 3.2 Liter SHO. Red with grey interior. I love the car, but have just been hanging on to it out of sentimental reasons. My aim is to sell the vehicle, but I want to sell it to an enthusiast, not someone off the street. The car has a cool dvd/ stereo, but no real mods other than Eibach springs.
If anybody has advice on how to sell it and make sure it goes to a good home with somebody that would take care of and enjoy it, I would love to hear from you.

Actually, I apologize. I re-read my post and it does read like an ad. If this forum is a good way to sell the vehicle I would of course make the donation and post a thread in the correct section. To be honest in the years I owned the vehicle I was never part of the SHO community and thus just wanted an idea of what I should do. Should you guys feel this is the best way to go about selling my vehicle I did find the instructions for how to post/ donate.
