Jason,
I would have done that a while ago believe me, but the tranny is still under warranty AGAIN! I might offer him to just have one of Doug's shipped in and then have him install it. It would be cheaper for him to do that than to see me every 3 months since he can't get his shit straight. I dunno if the guy at the "The Tranny Shop" will go for it, but I am close to getting a lawyer involved. shoot
Jeremy, give Doug a call @ FPS and have him send you one of his tranny's. If I can't break it with the power that my car is making, you should be fine with your car.
Who is this Doug? Does he have a web site?

sunspot, Would it be worth my while to do anything with my slo's tranny? It is an 89, with 165k on it. Probably not worth sinking money into, but it has been a damn good car. Can't get out of it's own way, but, that's a good thing with the wife drivin'!!

Jeremy, maybe you can work a deal with those hacks. They are not likely to put out the cash for one of doug's super trannies, bnut, if you agreed to pay something, maybe half. they will work with you. Otherwise they will keep patching up that POS.

good luck.

I was thinking the same thing...**** they still have to keep fixing the old one for free..they lose more and more money..whereas if we come together, we can get this solved once and for all..would hate to go the Lawyer route..

Okay I went and pulled the codes this morning just for fun, and found that the 637 code was for TOT (transmission oil temperature) was out of range and it kept coming up. I guess I am indeed boiling the tranny fluid again..SHEESH. Although the car has been shifting pretty well the past couple of days since I have been taking it easy on it. also had the 332 code come up. EGR circuit bad or something like that. I KNOW the EGR isn't clogged cuz I just cleaned it out myself a couple of weeks ago..I dunno about that one either..

Hmm, werd, Jerms. I dunno WHY you'd be boiling ATF with that humongous cooler on there. If you had a chance to get that Autometer gauge on there, you could know exactly what kind of temps we're talking about here.

What brand of fluid did he put in there this last time, BTW? Was it straight Mercon or equivalent dino ATF?

Hey that's what happened to my AXOD-E 3.8 GL. It had a cooler, but it started to fail. The trans isn't all gone. But after it warms up, it won't hold gear and I check the fluid and it burns but the fuid will have a bit of the red color to it. Don't flush it, I had mine flushed sometime before it failed and I that's what did it.

Why not flush it if I think it is burned?

half-way there, I think.
If that sensor is located in the radiator or one of the lines - that would probably cause it. I don't know what effect that it would have on the car. My first guess would be that eec would/might go into limp home mode and run/shift like crap.

Well the car has been shifting very well the past few days, and hasn;t missed a shift once!! WTH? I dunno. The engine however is a very different story. The DPFE sensor is shot and the a/f mix has been jumping around big time. That might have been some of the problem. Also, everytime I go over a bump, the engine races. I have checked the connection with the LPM and everything is okay. I have already replaced the TPS as a precautionary measure, but I don't know what else it could be. Any ideas Terry? or others?

I stopped into a couple places today (including a Ford dealership) to have my tranny checked out and they told me the same thing...if it is acting up, changing the fluid will definately cause the tranny to go. Didn''t really go into detail, just that it could do more harm than good.
