Sorry to bring back a old thread but has anyone successfully modded an older eatc unit, with the two 7 pin cables ,and the small 2 wire cable,to a newer faceplate? Mine is a 91 it works perfect, but buttons are all cracked, so Im assuming its like the dual 7pin cables with the extra 2 wire cable also.

Yes, I have. I fixed my 93 SHO with a 94 front end. Mark

Cool, I was a bit curious as to how the two -7 pin cables and the newer two-8 pin cables relate as to what each wire is for.Im sure it can be done,Im just curious.

Wanted to thank those who contributed to this thread it was very helpful and definately speed up the replacement of my eatc.

I found it much easier to remove the wires from the main pcb rather than the faceplate pcb. I just made a half inch long slit between each wire and removed and resoldered them one at a time. Only took about 20 min start to finish.
Works good only problem is the two buttons are labled wrong(though it functions perfectly), but atleast I don't have cracked buttons anymore so I can take my time finding the proper faceplate.

Thanks :thumb:

FWIW, the 95 conti EATC I got recently seems to work correctly, other than the the BCM is completely backwards.

big thing is, I need a green hard button EATC...is there a way to convert them from blue to green?

I read back a few post that the color is controled by a plastic film between the LCD and lense, so swapping that film will change the color.

i have a 90 sho so i can assume if i get any eatc form 90 to 95 with hard buton it should be a regular swap

as for soldering it ok but what if mine is a 14 wire and the new one is a 16 there was never a post on how to fix that in all the 5 page tread

anybody has more info for my situation ?

I'd like to see someone be able to modify the 7 wire ribbon EATCs. I have several 7 wire EATCs I'd like to modify, if it's possible. I've only modified the 8 wire ribbon cable EATCs. I've heard people say that it has been done, but I personally think it's a myth.

It should be a straight swap otherwise as long as the hard button came from a taurus or sable.
