Our equal length is good y-pipe which you can get it stainless: SHO Source

Also the pipe comes in peices so it can be fit as needed and the fit has been greatly improved so it fits perfectly.

Its up to you what you want. The catless gains more on top but looses a little on the low end. It can also smell and the sound is different. It's up to you in what you prefer.

Cue the argument about equal length vs unequal...

Really, just get anything that's mandrel bent. The rear 90 into the cat on the stock Y is ridiculous, and any aftermarket one will have improved on that.

My personal opinion on cats is to get them. The high flow ones aren't really a restriction, they cut pollution, keep you legal, and help get rid of rasp. They do cost a lot more though, and make it a bit tighter to work on stuff around the engine than if you had no cats. I have cats on my Y and don't regret it at all.

X2 on the cats.
As for equal V. unequal... I ended up selling my equal length y-pipe b/c I did not like the 2 to 1 "collector" where the pipes face eachother see pic. Also did not want to have to go through the process of installing, fitting, removing, welding, reinstalling the equal length; the magnaflow fit fine. Although the equal length is supposed to be worth a few extra hp and sound better, I would recommend the magnaflow http://shosource.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=43_54&products_id=52 SHO 1032 1
Magnaflow back, equal length front

I would buy the current SHO Source unequal y pipe again above any others

price, size, and fitment quality are what seals the deal for me....

if you look inside the exhaust at the merge it looks a lot better then it does just from looking at a picture of the outside... if u want to complain about that and count horsepower like your pennies, then really none of the aftermarket y's that are intended to go onto the stock y pipe are the best design possible....

I still have my stock cats, but I hollowed them out. I passed NY state inspection and I have no problems with anything on it. I dont throw any codes, and Im sure its a lot better on gas and power.

yea the restriction from the cats isnt very noticeable. the real problem with the stock y pipe is it has the pipes coming off the exhaust manifold go STRAIGHT down and the collector is not well made and its crush bent instead of mandrel

You should get cats. Not having them will cause problems if you ever want to sell the car.

X2!

Very good points! From my experiences though, the equal length tends to have alot less rasp, esspecailly when coupled with a good resonator!;)

As far as HP difference goes between equal & unequal, you're only talking about 1-2 HP, so i wouldn't be worried al all about that. Anything is better than a stock y-pipe!
