a couple questions...

if the battery is disconnected, does the computer go back to stock settings?

also, how different is the programming in each of the 3 programs (87, 89, 93 octane)?... say I program the 93 octane in... and start running 87, OR vice versa...

You should be fine running 93 with the 87 programming. I would NOT run 87 with the 93 programming. The 93 programming is programmed so that it can run slightly more timing with the higher octane fuel. Running too much timing with too little octane = SHO boom. However, I don't think running 87 with his 93 programming with blow your engine, it just won't be good for anything. Your knock sensors will probably retard the timing anyways.

No....unplugging the battery will not clear the tune because the flasher is essentially making that tune the new program.

Only by unloading the old tune and uploading the original PCM tune will you go back to the stock tune.

Go to the convention...that is probably the earliest you will be able to see me. Unless I work up some energy after this semester to go on a road trip to New England.

X-Calibrators are in the mail

Mailed them out yesterday.

You guys and girls should be getting them Fri or Mon.

They all went out Priority Mail.

Read the directions and follow my tip on the invoice. Pull the fuel pump relay before you program the car.

Enjoy.

It was a pleasure dealing with you all. Went very smooth. No headaches.

Thanks again to all.

My cable broke. I saw a few posts here & on V8sho.com where people had wired the secondaries open so I decided to try it. It doesn't seem to make much difference one way or the other. It does seem to make it idle a bit rich, but other than that it just saved me the expense of a new IMRC controller.

Regardless of what the car came with or has been programmed to, the AWL1 program still works in all '96 and '97 SHO's. There is more access in the tuning files for that code than any other for those years. '98 has it's own code, then '99 has 2 different codes depending on the tranny (O/D cancel or not).

Enjoy.

OK
I have one year left on the warranty. Will the AWL1 programming be a potential problem?

Got mine today as well, but couldn't try until after work.

Observations:
Yep, neutral rev limiter is bumped up. A quick blip to 5k and I was satisfied.

Parking rev limiter is DEFINITELY bumped up. Did a quick rev to 4500 at the gas station (after the test drive  ) and watched all the heads turn. :hail:

Shifting is nice and firm now. At WOT, the car lunges forward as it redlines the 1-2, AND pulls ******* the 2-3.

I wanted to test the speed limiter, as it was removed with the SCT, but could only get to 135 before I started an uphill climb. Dang does it feel good to be triple digits downhill, teeth clamped and ears popped!

Can't wait to do more driving with the '97 now! I'm quite impressed so far.

Thanks, Doug!

The SCT tuner forces what ever program in that I've installed in the tuner. The fact that you've got a JJK2, JJK3, AWL1, AWL2, KMM0, YIY0, YIY1 or any other program for a '96-'97 SHO is immaterial and has no bearing on the fact that my tuning files will be installed in your car.

As far as warranty, there is no way that an adjuster could see what tuning files have been installed. If there is a warranty issue, you can simply return the factory tuning from the tuner and there is no programming trail to follow.

Just make sure the fuel system is disabled before installing the tuning. When the tuning begins, the cooling fans and the fuel pump run constantly as the programming is being downloaded and uploaded. Disabling the fuel pump prevents any fuel related mishap.
