You can already manually shift the car. There is no real need for it unless you want to downshift and hold a certain rpm. Shift hardness depends on the tranny. It can be made as soft or hard as you want.

The upshifting behavior will be determined by how much throttle you give it.

I'd done a shift kit on an old gm th350, and it converted the valve body to a manual shift so literally drive was 3rd gear, is why I ask...I want to retain the drive feature.

the shift qualities is for when I'm driving my gf around...

in your tuning experience, do you think that gen 3 with CAI, headers, high flow mufflers, could be tuned in to make more power with the intake manifold changes, or leave it alone?

As long as you got a WBO2 I would estimate ~ 20 HP increase with the mods you suggest. Maybe more. A good stock motor will put out about 190 hp at the wheels.

just to clarify, are you referring to ~20hp increase by x3 tuning with those changes over the oem tune? or ~20hp total over an oem motor and tune?, also are the valves in the intake manifold worth modding?

20 hp total. For instance I put down 208 hp with a CIA and an opened exhaust with the tuner.

Headers are an unknown.

What are you talking about concerning the intake valves?

Yes there are secondaries but they are not needed for the single runner V8 intake. There is some loss in low engine speed performance due to the loss of the intensified swirl created. But this is only for off idle situations.

I gut the lower intake manifold as you remove 3 sq" of directly in the intake path.

I am not saying you will put down 208 hp. This is entirely dependent on the individual drivetrain and dyno.
