good luck, glad to hear things are going the right way. really sucks though to have to go through this, at least no one was injured, thats the main thing, but now to deal with the aftermath of repairs, been there, done that, really sucks, i feel for you. hope it comes all together for you.

just an update if anyone is still following this, they finally decided that this damage was from the accident, not by looking at my car but by talking to my mechanic. They told me they are going to total it out but it will take a couple of days to decide how much.

Presuming average mileage and condition, they'll probably come back with around a $2500-$3200 payoff, which you may be able to push up to about $3800 if you're tenacious.

Ok well it has been a month since the wreck and they finally got me an offer. $2491 and I keep the car with a salvaged title, or $2706 and they take it away. My wife talked to them, I haven't talked to them yet. I will try to get them to raise it, cause here in Houston the cheapest sho I can find is $2900 for a 94 with 216k miles on it(not a dealer). Mine only has 103k, and a 95. The only things not perfect on mine are a little paint chip on the trunk and the front seats are kinda worn, but definitely not more than what is normal wear. What do you guys think? take the money and run? fight them?

No, find comparables cars in your area. Like you have already done. Send it to them. Have them raise up the offer. The first one is always a bit under. If they are willing to raise it up a few hundred dollars you would be good. You always have play of several hundred bucks, not much more than that.

Thanks for you guys replies. I had my wife call them (I am afraid of getting angry at them and causing tension for now) and she told them $3000, which he said he looked at how much the cars are worth and the original amount is good. My wife asked if the 2700 is on top of what they already gave us, and the guy freaked out cause he didn't know about this, he was gonna give us 2700 on top of the 1100 I already got (DOH!) Well I'm not trying to rip them off anyways, but he said now that he has to give it back to the original adjuster(they changed adjusters when they decided to total it). Now the second reply to my post was that if they cut me a check already then they will not total the car out. Is this true? Not trying to second guess anyone but I was just wondering, thanks for you guys help. It sure seems like this is never going to end......

Well we finally settled yesterday, and they overnighted the check to me for $2694.80 and I get to keep they car and they will NOT total it. They offered 2970 to take the car away...I'm still thinking of selling it though, not sure what to do yet, if it was mtx I'd almost definitely keep it, but I have been looking at some fox body mustangs lately...Well thank you guys for all your advice!! It took awhile, but they did make me happy.
