I put my IAB gasket on backwards once, and it caused the same symptoms...

yes haha I've done that, **** I even put my IAC on BACKWARDS on my old SLO when trying to figure it out. I used one from a Gen 2 3.8 and it looked completely different so it boggled me the first time i put it together lol... 2nd time is the charm with me and Taurus engines.....

I just found this post and i was the one that started on the car. i had the car running when i brought it to the shop. i put the intake cuplers on and used a stock fuel rail valve and the car ran fine. the only reason y i told him to bring it to the mechanic was because when the car finally started and ran, it was making a loud and i do mean loud ticking sound. i didnt know what it was but i dont know when a car sits for awhile it will tick a little cause of lack of oil. but one this car i didnt know what it was, the only other thing i thought it could be was that something may have dropped down the intake holes even though they were covered. my major bet was that the cuplings on the intake were short and the couldve slipped off. the car ran and i drove it to his mechanic right up the street from my house and the ticking was getting quieter as i went but i still wanted to have a second opinion.

o ya on another note im staying away from his car, he brings the car to me to me not with all the right parts but some of that is my fault for not knowing to replace them already(couplers) does not let me know that there is a slight ticking in his car already and that he has an oil leak. then when i start the car i didnt feel comfortible with the tick and when i say he should get a second opinion on that tick he starts telling people in the area i know that im some kind of hack even though i've worked on other shos and cars that were like 10times more money than his. so im straight with that ive made mistakes that i easily own up to but being called a hack by the only favor i do. im done

Hmm.. I don't seem to recall me telling anybody you were a hack. I don't know where you figured this information out from, but I wasn't the one who said anything about your work. I told people you made mistakes when they wondered why the car was taken so long to get done and I wondered why it happened too because you did such a good job on your cars then when it came to mine everything went wrong. So no big deal the car will be fixed and be better then before. Too bad its not some fancy viper though or a car worth 10 times mine. Haha

you mentioned that if you stay on the gas that the car will stay running, but if you get off the gas it will stall out. i had this problem when i replaced an alt belt. did you try and reset the idle. i really dont know what the problem was when this happened to me it just kinda seemed to correct itself. but try resetting the idle and see if that helps at all.
