I have been trying to get these ported runners and big bore butterflies working on my car for close to a month the damn car starts but for the life of me won't stay running even my mechanics can't figure out the problem. Anybody in the massachusetts area who knows about this problem who could come check it out? I installed all new gaskets, bittersweetsho couplers, and everything is new. I can't understand why it can't stay running. Could too much air cause the air/fuel ratio to be off? That's the problem they thought it was having. Would a new bigger maf cure this problem? Please if anybody could come down and help me get this car running it would be highly appreciated. Any suggestions to what it could be would also be appreciated. Thank you in advance hopefully I can get the damn car running its beautiful out and my sho is soo nice and I just want to drive the damn thing im having withdrawals lol..

I don't know if you're the same one who had a thread like this awhile back and I replied late, but a bad IAC/IAB or the IAC/IAB being disconnected will cause this.

So basically it ran before a new intake was assembled and installed, and now it wont run?

Will it stay running long enough to search for vacuum leaks?

Give more details if you can...

Nope I didn't swap the dis at all the dis is the same one i used on my stock intake. The car idles for about a second then dies but if we press on the gas we can keep it running thats why I thought it had something to do with the fuel. I know the idle air bypass is connected. Its a possibilty that could be failing I will have the mechanic check the codes on it monday. The car doesnt stay long enough at all to check for any type of leak. I was the one who posted before also I still can't get the car to stay running. Please help...

Is there anything besides gaskets and new couplers that you need to replace while installing the ported runners and big bore butterflies? I also had the intake horns removed because I heard that they were pointless to leave in if I had big bore butterflies. Like is there anything else you must install to keep the car running? Or should these things sort of be like plug n play?

Hmm that could also be a possibility I will be sure to check out all these things. Hopefully I can get the car running soon.

I don't contribute help to threads with "WTF" in the title. It makes you sound like a blockhead.

Also check the vacuum line in the back of the intake. I had a hard time finding that problem. When I installed the intake I had the line get pinched in there. If all else fails have the guys at NESS take a look at it.

I know what you mean, the "wow" and "wtf" made it sound like he's saying people are useless because we haven't fixed his problem yet.

I'm sure he didn't mean it that way, and is just a bit frustrated with his car. I have a feeling we have already diagnosed the problem though, he just need to figure out which one it is and fix it.

Just a couple of more thoughts. . you swapped in ported runners, and BBB's from another intake? Does the car run with the original runners, and Butterflies there? Or do I have this totally wrong. . .

Is the intake painted? If so you probably have a ground problem.

If you're certain the grounds are good, jam a screwdriver in between the stop screw and throttle and see what happens.

You can get a paper clip and get codes, you dont need a mechanic.

Just pull off the IAB and test it with a 9V battery.

In one of your other threads about this you said you heard a noise leaking leaking air. Most likely a vacuum leak. Did you assemble the intake as a whole then try to install it? If so, you should leave everything semi-loose and then put the intake on the engine to seat it properly, THEN tighten it down.

Check that the intake is properly seated on the heads. I thought I had mine on correctly once, and then it wouldn't run. I re-seated the intake and it started up and ran perfectly. The intake was lose and not sitting on the alignment pegs correctly.

Un-do the bolts and try and wiggle the intake. It shouldn't move left to right if it is seated properly.

Your car is not flowing too much air with the upgrades for it to not run right. You have either a leak, or poor grounding. A bad ground will usually prevet the car from starting at all though.
