I know they help sponsor the forum, but wow.... The Ford parts network wants $2,482.03 (As listed on their site after doing a parts search) for a 94 3.2 Y-pipe/converter!!! What, pray tell makes the OEM one that expensive? Thats more than I paid for my SHO. As a former Ford parts guy I know Emision parts are expensive but that seems a bit out of whack.

And here I thought the Expressway converters Y-pipe/converter was expensive at $285

I'm not trying to flame here..... Just curious why it's so expensive

half-way there, I think.
My experience with OEM cats and exhaust is that they are damn expensive. I bought an 84 Toyota Supra (no turbo) back in 92' for $600. The car had a straight pipe where the cat was and I needed to get it emissioned. I went to the dealer and they wanted $1800 for it.. I laughed and walked out. Mind you this was only one cat.

Yeah GM wanted $900 for a cat converter and a section of pipe for one of my Montanas. So I just went to a muffler shop and he cut it out and welded in a new one for $150.

Any OEM SHO y-pipes still lying around Ford warehouses are likely 8+ years old. You're paying for someone to store that pipe on their shelf for all those years plus interest on their inverntory money.
