Would this part work in a 97 sho? I have known about people putting it in gen I and II, does it work for gen III? Thanks in advance.

Don't use an inline pump - you'll cavitate the intank unit.

Just get a Mustang pump, and make sure they include the wiring harness pigtail. The Mustang pumps from the same years is a direct fit, but has a different harness.

I stuck a 255 LPH pump in SHO R T S from TRE Racing. I had to modify the fuel pump mount quite a bit inside the in tank housing.

I understand that fuel pumps up to 190 LPH are a little smaller and will fit the stock hole much better.

That said, why do you think you need a pump upgrade?

Oh hey, you're from TCCA.

Welcome aboard.

Hope you and most certainly your wife make it through. Best of luck.

The WI was just a joke dude, relax! BTW, hope everything works out with your wife!

As mentioned by others, unless you're doing something super different with your car, a 255lph pump is way overkill, and certainly an inline pump is not appropriate on these cars.

I ran a 255lph pump in my '97 because when the OE pump failed that's all that was immediately available to me. A 255lph pump overwhelms the stock fuel pressure regulator and requires an aftermarket FPR in order to work properly.

There is a 255lph pump that will fit right into the stock canister with zero modification, but nobody currently makes a 155lph or 190lph pump that will fit the canister properly (and really there's not a lot of reason to go with anything above the stock 120lph pump without a whole lot of mods).

Chris, is the G3 SHO fuel canister different than the SLO one? I ask because I put a Mustang 190LPH pump into my old 97 SLO with no modicifations other than a harness swap.

Welcome to the Forum. We really are a group of genuinely caring people that enjoy giving others a hard time in an innocent way. No harm meant by anyone here, trust me.

My knowledge of the Gen III is limited so I'll let those more knowledgeable reply.

I hope your wife recovers quickly.

Thanks everyone, the reason I am asking is because I will be adding twin turbos to my sho in a couple months. Going with a 42mm and a 76mm. I wasnt sure if this would be a necessary part to get along with the turbos. What do you think?

I appreciate the comments for my wife, she is doing ok, just terrible headaches and such, but I think you would have them too if they just put a hole in your head. lol

Quick question - has anyone ever converted our fuel system to work with an external pump? Just run hose in the tank, remove the stock pump, put an external pump inline somewhere?

Why would you want to do that? In the tank, the fuel returning from the engine bay cools the pump inside its canister. Plus, it's always easier on a pump to push fluid, rather than pull it.
