I'm glad this happened before I sold her...

Go to start my car tonight and she is kicking and kicking but does not turn the engine over. I hear the starter trying to rotate the engine but it just won't start. This never gave me trouble before until tonight. Think I need a new starter?

I don't think it's my battery that was replaced last year and my acc all work when the key is in the proper position.

This sucks because other than this my car runs like new and I was planning on selling it soon. I can definitely put a starter in myself I just want to know if this is definitely the problem.

Thanks
~Alex

Sounds like a "Cranks normally but won't start" issue assuming that cranking speed is normal. You post is very unclear as to what the exact symptom is.

If this is the case:

1) Extract the KOEO codes to see if there are any clues there.

2) Verify spark is present and is in time. Possible causes would be CID/CPS sensors, coil, DIS, secondary ignitions system, electrical connections and supply.

3) Verify fuel pressure. Possible problems include filter, pump, fuel, electronic controls, etc

4) Verify airflow. Try cracking the throttle just a bit.

There are more things that could cause it, these are the most likely if the engine "just quit".

Avoid cranking on that starter for more than 20 seconds at a time, otherwise you will definately run the risk of burnng it out. Allow it to cool between attempts.

This morning I go to start my car and it fires right up. I'm going home to Derby from Storrs (uconn) and taking a look at it from the comfort of my own garage :)
