Won't Shift out of 1st

Hey guys. I'm new here. Used to own a 95ATX and hopefully with get back into the whole SHO thing. I have a 93ATX on the line right now for CHEAP but it will not shift out of 1st. It has 1st and Rev. The transmission was rebuilt a couple months ago and the problem is thought to be in the computer somewhere? I heard something about the VSS ......I'm probably going to end up bringing it to ford to find out what exactly is wrong with it so I can fix it and enjoy the car! Thanks guys! Sounds like it could be a VSS. Put the car in manual 2 and see if it starts out in second. If it does, then I would point VSS.

PITA huh? Where is it located? Since the guy is getting rid of the car for $800, I'm sure it wouldn't hurt my feelings to pay some guy to install it......We'll see
