I noticed 2 days ago that I have a headlight out. I currently have a stock setup and at this point (i.e. 10 years beyond where I should have invested time and money in headlamp upgrades) I opt to upgrade on an "as-needed" basis.

Anyway, I searched around for a DIY wiring harness diagram and found this from the good ole days:
http://www.v8sho.com/SHO/HEADLIGHT_HARNESS.png

Is this still a good DIY option? Can anyone tell me the stock high and low beam wiring color? It isn't shown here. Mike mentions 2 color combos in the write up, but not which is for which wire.

There's also this post, which goes more into projectors and such:

I plan on investing in the silverstars, and as long as I'll be making the harness, I'll likely opt for the "all beams on" option (14 AWG)

Thanks

LED Reverse light issue

So I've gotten a few exterior lights replaced with LEDs and noticed that when I shift to reverse, the reverse lights flash and then go out, even though the car's still in reverse. I'm aware of the flasher issue when switching those bulbs to LEDs. But I haven't heard about anything like this for the reverse lights, nor have I been able to find anything on this forum or the web.
I hope it's an easy fix.

Thanks

Are the reverse lights LEDs? Incandescents work fine? Could the polarity on the LEDs be reversed? Possible ground issue.

MLPS could be slightly out of adjustment.

Personally at this point the BEST lighting upgrade you could be would be projectors in the stock housings.

say what?

You mean mpls as in IP networking? Surely I have that wrong as I don't that was used back in 98. You talking about projectors for the REVERSE lights? That's pretty ******** man. I think the single HP white LED bulb will suffice for me.

Not sure what happened between last night and now, but the reverse lights stayed on when I left this morning (when in reverse only). But following the wife home tonight with her in the SHO, I noticed they flickered but did NOT stay on.
*sidenote*
Had the spoiler off when I changed the reverse bulbs. Does anybody know how to get water out of the spoiler? I was almost tempted to drill a small hole near one end (or both) to drain it before plugging it back up with the black goo.

BTW, I thought I'd be "unique" and stick the UV 194 led bulbs into the license plate sockets. Those things barely make any light at all even right up in your face. I'm not sure if this is normal or if the bulbs are bad. Followed the wife home tonight with her in the SHO. I gotta say, with no headlights or streetlights shining on the license plate, the UV leds look pretty slick. Kinda subtle, and it's gotta be dark around to see it, but there's NO WAY anybody would be able to read the plate characters unless there is other light hitting it (which, for the record, was not my intent).

This is weird. I hadn't noticed it yesterday, so I'm not sure if it was doing it or not, but the high center brake light leds I put in yesterday (2x single red led 194s) strobe at a very high rate but the light output is very low, and this is even when the car is off. It fluctuates during startup, and I think it settles during driving. Could this flickering be evidence of a parasitic draw or do I just need to somehow up the resistance? I also see no difference in light intensity during braking for the high center light.

Kevin,
If you're talking about the projectors for headlights, I was hoping that one of the forum users that was coming back to the states from overseas would be able to make me an offer. He'd done some of these before but I have yet to hear back from him on it. I currently have 2 new headlight housings with PIAA Extreme White Plus bulbs and a wiring harness I put together myself (not yet installed). I wish somebody had mentioned that shosource sells a harness for $45. I have at least $50 and several hours into mine, and I'm sure the shosource rig's voltage drop is much less than the one I made. I am getting about 11.7 volts on the stock setup, which I have to run on high beams all the time since a low beam filament burned out. The light output on high beams is even less than what the low beams should be IMO.

Thanks. My motor aspires to be the red-headed step-child of whoosh (make that YELLOW-headed). =)
I call it "Carter Yellow", but the eventual plan is to get appearance cover painted blue.
