Welder will be here Saturday to weld cams (thanks, Larry and everyone else for your help) :thumbs_u: so hopefully by Monday have the SHO on the road.

I noticed that when I removed the engine wiring harness the rear coil wiring harness had melted to the cam cover, no wiring damage but the conduit was nasty, I will insulate the harness on re-installation.

My question is: Are there any other known trouble spots like this I should be aware of to repair while the engine is out?

Thanks again

Move the back coils to the front? Not sure what you mean. Swap the front ones with the back ones?

Not to be dumb, just not sure what you mean

Thanks, Timmayh :jpshakeh:

CAN WELD TO DO LIST

Read the above link to V8SHO. Kirk and other have contributed a wealth of knowledge in this area and youd be wise to follow it. Yes you rotate the rear coils to the front and vice versa. This is beacuse the rear bank operates at higher temperatures, this is why your harness is cracking like mad. Get that insulated as well. Read the link, then if you have further questions don't hesitate to ask.
Good Luck
Who is welding your car and do they have a test cam/or experience in this procedure??

What I thik is the funnies thing is that people call daily to see what I do for the service, they read to me verbatim off of that list and I start cracking up, this usally makes them pause as to wonder why im laughing.. I say read ahead a few lines and the big OHHHHHHHHHHHH comes out.

Welder (Dirk Campbell, Madison Heights, VA) came by my shop today to look at the spare engine. I pulled the front bank intake cam out of the engine that is still in the car, cleaned it up and gave it to him to use as a test cam.

I could not believe the slave cam sprocket on the exhaust cam, spun free with just the touch of a finger! unbelievable!! Cleaned up the test cam in the parts washer and got a good look at the "splines", thats a joke! I've seen bicycle parts with a more secure attachment. Anyhow, he used a magnet to check something, commented something about a stainless alloy or 'somethinganother', said "no problem, I'll be by Tuesday at 4:00".

I plan on putting in new Motorcraft Platinum AGSF 32FM plugs, don't really see any need to install anything different, unless you guys think so. Will rotate the back coils to the front (glad I labled where they came from when I took 'em out)

Thanks again guys

Timmayh

p.s. Larry, where did you get that awesome front facia? Looks good in toredor red, probably good in silver frost as well :p
