ok i should know this but i don't why is it that when i turn my windshield wipers off they want to go up instead of going down into there recessed position?
If that doesn't work, it could be the motor. I have this problem with my '92 SLO. Apparently there are gears inside the motor, and one of them is stripped. Junkyard time! ****
IIRC changing the motor should be pretty easy. Drop me an email in about 3 weeks and I'll you know... I'll have done mine by then.
As far as cleaning the multi-funtion switch, do a search on it and you'll probably find everything you need, I know there were some instructions posted not long ago. thumb
Replacing the motor is simple (if that's the problem). All you have to do is remove the cowl panels (the black plastic pieces below the wipers), the wiper arms themselves, and then you'll see the motor and transmission. Unbolt the transmission, the unbolt the motor, and you're done. It's quite simple. thumb
Sounds to me like a motor issue. The motors have a memory of sorts and this is what happens when the motor forgets where to park the blades when it's turned off.
I currently have an issue on my car where there is intermittent problems with power or something as the blades will go up to the top and then just stop and stay there at times, then they'll go down eventually. This I contribute to the multifunction switch and it needing to be cleaned.
