Seems to be a common issue with taurus and sables, my wipers wont park themselves, and i have no intermittent wipers, if i push the washer button the only way i can shut the wipers off is shutting the car off. Do i need a wiper motor ?

Thanks im sure ill have more questions

Im gonna bet money on your multifunction lever... the one that controls turn signals, brights and wiper functions. They are known to go bad on the Taurus/Sable and are a cheap and easy fix.

There is also a wiper relay/control box under the dash that controls the motor. To be sure I would do some wire checks at the motor to see if you have power to the inter and park connections at the motor. The motor does have several rotating electrical (if I remember the inside of the motor correctly)contacts which could also be the issue. I have had two multi function switch failures and never affected the wipers to that extreme. Most recent one (last month) the entire wiper portion of the lever came off and I could still manipulate the wipers. First one caused my headlights to stop working at night on the way home on the highway, needless to say it was eyeopening.
