Thanks for any help!

I have a 1990 SHO. I left the car running with the wipers frozen to the windshield.

Now the the motor is constantly spinning even if the switch is off and there is no movement at all from the wipers. I hear the (relay) clicking as I change speeds.

Does anyone know what happened, how to deal with this and what costs might be incurred? I imagine maybe the gears are stripped but in that case why is the motor spinning non stop?

Thanks again!

Paul1990sho,

I agree the gear is most likely stripped. the motor is running because the relay points are welded to each other. In other words the relay points stuck together and it is as if the switch is always on.

You should be able to get a gear, or the whole used motor from a salvage yard. Replace the relay. Be carefull in handling the motor because the magnets are ceramic and somewhat fragile. rangerj

Paul, I have a good used motor from a Gen II if you'd want it. It would require some minor re-wiring in order to make it work but it is the same size physically and will bolt right up.

I agree with rangerj in that it sounds like the gear is stripped.

Thanks guys...Bizzy I will email you as soon as my ISP email is back up.

Someone else mentioned the motor keeps spinning because it cannot sense that the wipers are parked?
