the trim on my car doesn't have the metal insert but it is becoming rough and unsightly in places. i don't think the previous owner ever applied any dressing and i don't want to replace it because it doesn't leak. i tried meguiar's #40 vinyl and rubber cleaner conditioner but it doesn't last. has anybody tried using a scotchbrite pad to remove the rough textured oxidation? any suggestions? TIA
