Hi all, I had to replace the windshield on my 2016 (purchased new in Nov. 2017) SHO due to a rock chip that had spread. New windshield seems great, however it has developed a resonant "hum" or "buzz" at around 80 mph.

It seems as thought the plastic or rubber trim along the length of the cowl across the bottom of the windshield is in turbulent air and vibrates rapidly causing the annoying "buzz".

Is this something that anyone else has noticed before? If so, is there a known cure? I am thinking that some kind of light-duty adhesive to stick the trim piece to the windshield will help? Any suggestions for some sort of a non-permanent adhesive? Any other known fixes? Could the windshield shop have forgotten to add some sort of plastic pins or rivets when installing the new windshield?

Hoping I am not crazy and someone else has experienced this?

Thanks in advance for all of your expert help!

Regards,

Jeff

Just had mine done on my 2016 a couple of weeks ago - no issues, at least up to 90MPH :)

It's possible the pins lost some of their retaining power. Tap around on the plastic trim and see if you can tell what's loose.

Not uncommon. I had this issue once I had my windshield replace on my '13. It actually turned out to be the wiper blades. When they removed them they didn't get them back in exactly the same position so the wind coming over the hood caused them to "rattle and vibrate". A quick test is to drive at a speed where the issue occurs and just hit your wipers one time and see if it immediately quits. If so, check the position of your blades with regard to the "T" marks on your windshield. They should sit right on the top of the "T" or ever so slightly below. Adjust if need be and retest.

Hope that's the all it is for you.

Thanks crusher. That is what I initially thought it was, but didn't know how to necessarily check if anything was "off".

Hopefully I will get some time to monkey with the wiper blades this weekend. I will report back.

On second thought, it is my wife's daily driver, and she says that she hates the noise so much that it keeps her below 80 mph...…..
